OK so I really want to know my chances (HEOP/NOP) PLEASE HELP

I'm a senior applying to Columbia Engineering and Cornell Engineering and I want to know my HEOP/NOP chances

Family Income:$10,000
Ethnicity:Latino
First Generation going to College
GPA: 3.61 (90.49%)
SAT CR: 670 (took it twice this was my best score, the first time I got a 540)
SAT M: 680 (took it twice this was my best score, the first time I got a 640)
SAT W: 640 (again took it twice this was my best score, the first time I got a 600)
SATII Physics: 610
SATII Math 1: 620
APs: AP Computer Science A (I got a 4)
AP World History (I got a 4)
AP Spanish (Didn't take the test yet)
AP Statistics (Didn't take the test yet)

Curriculum: All honors courses and APs since freshman year. I am also a year a head in math and science (I took two regents in middle school). I am also in a bridge year program with Queens College that is allowing me to take 2 Queens college classes per semester this year. At Queens College I am currently taking Freshman Humanities Seminar (HTH101) and The Physics of Sound (PHYS007). I am also doing a Robotics independent study

Extra Curricular Activities: US FIRST Robotics team member (I'm the captain of our teams programming division, been on since the second year the team started, 2 years counting this year), I amateur box (yes box), American Computer Science League (3 years), 200 hours community service with New Immigrant Community Empowerment, 50 Hours Community Service under Former Senator John Sabini (He left for another position in Albany and I lost my job with him), WPI FRONTIERS Robotics Summer Program Participant, Manhattan College Summer Program For Women and Minority Students Interested in Engineering Participant (yes that's the long name the program has),

Recognitions: National Honor Society, National Society for High School Scholars, National Latin Examination I: Magna Cum Laude Silver Medal. My school's Deans/Principal's List

Recommendations: 1 from my Calculus Teacher (She's had me for Sophomore and Junior Year, knows me quite well) and 1 from my Physics/Robotics teacher who is also my Robotics independent study mentor AND my US FIRST ROBOTICS team coach (Definitely a good rec. He's gotten one of my friends into Dartmouth and another into Columbia who have had similar stats as mine (I believe one with a slightly higher GPA but lower SAT, the other was vice versa, so I am in the middle lmao)).

Essays: People have told me that they are GREAT. I worked months on them!

Misc: I have a rare autoimmune Disease called Still's Disease, which attacks my skin and joints, that effects my everyday life. I wrote about it in my Columbia Essay as a significant adversity I have had to face. I also come from a single parent home, my father abandoned my mom and I when I was 4.

Friends of mine have told me I have no chance in hell for Regular Cornell and Columbia. Columbia is my top school, do I have a chance in HEOP/NOP?

You’re most defintely a shoo-in (mostly cuz of race but who knows wat hardships u had to overcome, no judgment on my part here)

PLZ CHANCE ME FRIEND!

THANKS I WILL. Anyone else ???

Please someone CHANCE ME!!! I’m DYING TO KNOW!!!

Someone please chance me!

Why wont anyone chance me?

Your SAT scores are REALLY low.

You have a great life story, but to be honest those scores just don’t cut it for Columbia and Cornell.

So I dont have a shot? Not even in HEOP/NOP!?

I’m afraid I have to concur with HYPhoper. However, I feel that you have at least some sort of a shot, maybe around 20% for Columbia and 30% for Cornell.

Honestly, I don’t know much at all about HEOP/NOP though. Realize that the vast majority of people who “chance” others on here are students who don’t know any more than you do about your chances.

Hey 20% is better than 0% I guess. Any other opinions. Preferably from those who know the HEOP/NOP Prorgams

i dont know too much about the HEOP/NOP program but I think your sat scores are a little low so i think you have a small chance

Good luck hope you get into the schools you want

Any other opinions?? (People who know about the HEOP/NOP process would be appreciated)

bumps!!! anyone know HEOP or NOP well? Chance me please

i agree with patriots here, your scores are a little low, however your background and having to overcome those obstacles probably would make amazing essays.

I’m not familiar with the HEOP program (I know what it is but not what you need to get into that or whatever). I commend you for overcoming your adversities. If you have the opportunity to take the SAT one more time, study hard and try one more time to bring at least a couple of your subscores up to 700s. You also might do well to apply to a couple schools but not in engineering.

Chance back would be appreciated! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/827313-im-first-my-family-go-through-process-can-you-please-chance-me.html

You actually have a great chance of getting in. like i said in the other thread, HEOP admits students who are inadmissible to the college based on regular standards, but demonstrate the potential to succeed given the resources and finaid. You showed great improvements in your scores and have impressive ECs. You’re a great candidate for HEOP at Cornell and Columbia. I applied via HEOP to Hamilton, so im just dying to know already in March. so yeahh, good luck!

Cornell - reach
Columbia - reach

^^^Under HEOP or is this a comment based on not knowing what what HEOP is (since I’ve been getting a lot of those lately, just curious)?

Don’t listen to what anyone else says most of these people haven’t ever even had a sibling who went to an ivy. My brother goes to columbia and he works the admissions office here is what I can say: and this is only for HEOP not even regular. SATs they don’t give a damn about writing and want over 600 in reading and over 700 in math. Average must be over 95 unweighted and you must have an income under 30k. Priority is given to blacks and hispanics
