ok, so something bad happened

I am a total idiot. I meant to apply to all the uc's except merced, but somehow, I managed to COMPLETELY forget to put down UCSD. I realized after I submitted, and tried to go back to see if it was possible for me to re-access my app or some other way to add UCSD, and here's what it says:

If you decide to apply to additional UC campuses, send a written request to the application processing service. Include:
Your application ID number
Your Social Security Number
New campus name(s) and major(s) to which you wish to apply
a check or money order for $60 for each additional campus (payable to The Regents of the University of California).

Your request will be honored only if the campuses you choose still have space available

Yeah, so obviously there wont be "space available" if I follow this route, so what should I do? Is there a number I can call? I know that the deadline has been extended, so I'm hoping there is some way that someone can re-open the application for me.

Why would they make exception in this case? They anticipate that people would want to make changes to the application, that's why they bother telling you to send them something in writing. Plus, what do you mean there "won't be space available"? I don't think they even look over the applications as a whole until they receive your mid-year report in January.

Edit: Ah, okay, I didn't read the last part about them actually stating the "space available" part. I say just send the letter as quickly as possible. They're probably warning the people who decide to make the change weeks later after the deadline.

UC's dont take into account grades for senior year, unless you get Ds or Fs. And the reason I thought they might make an exception is because the deadline has been extended.

Hah, oops. I keep forgetting that I'm reading both Transfers and College Admissions forums.

Calling won't take too much time--go ahead if you want to try. But I said the things I said because even if the deadline didn't pass yet, they wouldn't have let you go back into the system to change your application anyway. It's pretty much like any other business establishments, you usually need to submit something in writing to make a change formally. I'm not being helpful, but I tried. :(

ughhh I've tried calling 3 times and it says I am being transferred to an attendant, but then it kust goes to message. I'll try a few more times later today and then leave a message/email

they extended the app deadline online because of all the server troubles they were having -- just redo the app tonight and sent it to ucsd

<a href="http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/apply/afterapply.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/apply/afterapply.html</a></p>

"Do not submit a second application form; it will not be processed."

any other ideas?

oh yeah and the number for admissions questions doesnt work
grrreeat

Go to a different school? :)

so it's taken care of. My mom called the support number and got through. They told her who to talk to, and now we have to send some woman a letter, but as long as it gets sent out tomorrow before the deadline, they'll add UCSD to the app.

Yay, now we all know what to do.

Good thing my discouraging you didn't stop you from doing what you were already going to do regardless of posting this!
