Okay Indian time to gear up for MIT 2006

Why is there a need for an "Indian" thread? Should I start a Caucasian applicant thread? It just seems silly to start a thread that would otherwise apply to everybody but restrict it by race/ethnicity/nationality.

Hamster, you bring up a good point. All I can say is that it didn't stop me (I'm not Indian, or even Asian).

well Hamster dont fell left out, I mean the thread is open for all who want to come in..But its Indian (I think because) so that Indians can discuss the country specific preparation of the application and so that all Indians do come to a common place and we have an idea of the competition.
This thread like any other is obviously open to all, although it might not help you guys..I mean how much will an american need to know abt the application process and Indian has to follow in applying to MIT( they are pretty much different you know..haha)

Hey this is Arka,

PS: Send me e-mail @: crazy4astronomy@your-mail.com

well my app has just started. Actually although I have planned my essays and all but I'll be writing them in the month of december coz right now I have a lot of exams.

Whats up peeps, Varun here. I'm already applying to U Penn early, but I'm here anyways because I like to discourse with intellectual browns. I started the MIT app for fun though, i am currently trying to endeavor through part 1 lol. Just out of curiosity, are all of you desis applying to the School of Engineering?

You don't apply to a school at MIT. You apply to the institute. :).

oh snap, you just served my ass on a silver plater. well, thanks for telling me though and best of luck to all of you (except you olo. lol jp)

???

I was being serious. That's word for word what the adcom says.

And call me Timur... everyone here does. :)

i know, i was just messing around with you. personally ive never been to an mit meeting thingy (they never come to my city). is your real name timur?

Yes, yes it is. :)

I suggest going to Matt's blog, there's a lot of helpful questions there (click "questions omnibus" on the side).

YUp Matt blogs omnibus are really cool........check on the past archives also

wow timur sounds like a cool name! I think he is some type of nomad warrior dude. That sounds so awesome!

Yeah, Tamarlame (aka Timur the Lame) was a "nomad warrior dude", although his excessive cruelty reduces his dude standing in my eyes, at least compared to Genghis Khan, whose cruelty was less excessive, but a tad overshadowed by his awesome leadership and organization skills. The best thing to come out of Mongolia in the last... ever. And the only? Who knows. Most things in Mongolia tend to stay there I'm guessing.

Thanks!

While my family does have a history behind it, it's more religiously-oriented (directly descended from Mohommad's cousin Ali) than it is battle-oriented, although I'm sure somewhere up the line there had to be a nomadic warrior.

You're likely thinking of Timur i Leng, a fierce and intelligent warrior.

Yeah, Timur was fairly cruel. To his credit though, he was a huge patron to the arts and sciences.

ok...Now as per the purpose of this thread. How many have submitted the MIT app Part I.

I have submitted the app and have my EC interview in December.

Olo, you're directly descended from Muhammad's cousin? Doesn't that make you the Imam of the Shias or something?

Is anyone even interested about the admission process here???
