shikharsaxena, if your passion is CS than you should look into CMU and Stanford as well.

Inuendo : Thanks for the advice.I am looking forward to apply to Stanford too but I can't apply to CMU coz they don,t give finaid bro.

Hey people the essays for MIT will be same as 2005 for this year.

I am of "indian ethnicity"- but I am not a CS. I am going to JHU for med. I applied to IIT in India and got in but I decided to go elsewhere.

good, but couldn't get the connection with MIT 2006.
Conratulations for gettig into JHU great med school.

lol- thanks!

Hey guys, I am also of indian background. I didn't get into MIT or Stanford (top 2 choices where I want to transfer) but I did get into UC Berkeley. My major is going to be Chemical Engineering / Nuclear Engineering (Double Major).......here are my stats for ppl who are interested.......

(High School)

HS GPA: 4.17 (uw)
SAT I : 1510
SAT II (MATH IIC): 780
SAT II (PHYSICS BC): 720
SAT II (WRITING) : 640

(Community College.......transfer to Cal, instate)

CC GPA: 3.72
Completed all the courses required for the double major, excellent EC's, internship at ALZA.

ok people. I think no Indian is there to keep this post alive.
well good I wont have competition this year and probably get in.

Not quite ;). MIT is definitely one of my top choices and I'm applying for '06.

That's the spirit ramsfan.
Maybe you can post your scores (if you have them) and also your passions

My stats:
GPA: 4.0 UW
rank: 1/450
SAT: 800 M, 800 V (I received a 710 on the writing section but I've heard it won't be a factor in MIT admissions and most other colleges)
800 Math IIC
770 US History
taking Chem in October (expecting 770-800)

I'm really into math and physics, but I also like interacting with people and being a leader. I'm probably going for either a math, applied math, physics, or economics major.

bump bump bump bump..
Now that the apps deadline approach lets make this alive once again.

EA MIT

stats are above....but man MIT seems to be the best place to go and for some reason I have this ephipany that its the place for me.

anyway..I posted here because I'm indian lol and the thread says indian thread.

alright peace...anyone think I should try to get a 800 in verbal like ramfan...in novmeber or just let it go?

good luck to all

youd better take another SAT II I think Math I and II are too similar I would suggest another SAT II. Although MIT has no problem with two Maths as well.

Also posted it on your thread.

A 7xx and an 800 amount to the roughly the same thing. Ben said a 750 is treated the exact same way as an 800. You can take it again, but don't fret if your score isn't too high.

i asked the SAT II question to ben and he said to spend more time on my essay than wasting my time on trying to get a good score on a sat II test that I may get a lower score in.

thanks for the advice olo

I will be applying for RD at MIT... So, I think you all have competition. I am from Patna btw.
Guys, lets share tips which can come handy...
I will give my SAT Reasoning Test on 8th Oct....
:):)

Hi guys. I am the biggest contradiction ever in existence. I ended up with a SAT 1780, 500 cr, 670 ma, 610 wr, but managed to get four 5s on the AP exams including the Calculus AB one. Then I won an essay contest in the county for two consecutive years, and won a international prize from Nasa this year in math. Am I allergic to SAT or what? How can I get rid of this score? Please help.I need advice.

@SBI: take the ACT?

I even took the ACT and ended up wiht a 24, out of 36. I am allergic to both. I just don;t seem to do well on these
