Okay-ish sophomore year, planning for an awesome junior year...

Hey!

I'm a junior in high school right now and i'll be graduating in 2012. Last year (sophomore year), i did okay. basically, i got a 3.0 GPA for both semesters. i took 1 honors class (chem honors) and received As, Bs, and one C. I'm planning to get extremely good grades this year. I'm taking APUSH, AP Bio, and American Literature Honors. I'm aiming to get atleast a 4.3 GPA (weighted) with all those classes for both semesters. That and let's say that I get atleast a 2200 on my SAT. What are my chances for getting into decent colleges? My current choices are:

UMass Amherst

UC Davis

UC Santa Barbara

I'm joining key club this year and last year, I did over 100 hours of volunteer work, tutoring other students in the library. I will be continuing that this year and add it up to about 120 hours for this year only. I play tennis and I plan on making the varsity team this year as well. I also plan on taking challenging courses next year as well like AP Calculus A/B, AP Economics, Physics Honors, and AP English 4.

What are my chances of getting into those colleges, especially UMass Amherst with my details? Thanks for your opinion! :D

You should be able to get into those schools.

Wow…I’m almost in the same situation as you and I feel a bit more confident because I get a bit squeamish seeing a 4.0 GPA as “bad.” Hopefully you make it and UC Davis is my dream school too (:
