I took both parts of physics, but only got 4's on the AP's. My advisor had me schedule 240/241 since there was a chance I would get a 5 on the AP this year. Is it ok to still take 240/241 before the first part? I'm pretty familiar with physics, anyone have experience doing this? I looked into switching my schedule, but 141 is all filled up.

I wouldnt try to do it backwords. As you know there are a lot of things in mechanics that you use to build and understanding of E&M. Technically they want a 5 on the AP, but i bet if you take 240 and do well they wont care at all.

My advisor didn't it would be too much of an issue. I just saw the 240 syllabus on c-tools and they want 140 before 240. Made me kind of nervous. I'll switch if two people drop the class, but if they don't I guess I'm taking it.

As long as you've seen mechanics before you'll be fine. Knowing vector calculus would be far more useful than taking 140.
