guys this has been bothering me for some time...i posted before but no one responded....please? some advice

i noticed some time ago that i couldnt take the writing satII on the same day as the SATI...oops....so really, theres no option, i have to take the New SAT anyway. (i havent taken either yet, and theres only one test date left.)

the thing is, idk how to use that last test date in January. Should i try taking the old SAT? (im scared that the New sat will have curves like the psat...man...killer....) i might do better on one of the sections, and since they take individual section scores from diff sittings, it could work to my advantage if i did well.

but see, theres also another thing....im a science kind of guy if u know what i mean...a junior with a couple 5s under his belt, along with internships blah blah blah w/e. doesnt matter. im applying to some science programs this summer like RSI and such...and although many claim that scores dont play a monumental role, those kids at least HAD some scores. im taking precalc this year, and would only be finished with half of the curriculum in jan (if i decide to take the IIC). in ur opinion, would this be a good idea? its not like i have no SATIIs...i have chem (did good) and japanese (lol no relation to science) but ppl have said that a math score would help.
what do u think?

its between one shot at the old SAT and hope to do well, or a shot at the math IIC and hope to do well....like 750 ish with only half the curriculum. (i did some problems, was getting like 3/4 right...)

thanks guys i appreciate any comments.
i just need to concentrate my efforts on one thing..and i dont know what yet

i would suggest u take the SAT IIC instead of the old SAT. if ur gonna take the new SAT (i'm assuming ur a junior?) then i dont see any point in taking the old one. Also, taking an SAT II now will save u some time later on near the end of ur junior year and beginning of senior year.

hmm the only reason i would disagree is if the curve is so much harsher on the new one than the old one...but i guess theres no way to really know yet. thanks.

If I were placed in such a situation, I would begin to literally inhale math and give the IIC a shot; if it doesn't work out, I'd cancel it. The New SAT is different from the old one, so really, I think it's better to just get used to the new format of the test.

The curve on the New SAT will not be anywhere near as harsh as the October PSAT. The SAT has tons more problems than the PSAT so the curve will be closely related to the current SAT so that the overall populus scores on average in the same percentile range. I for one think the new SAT will be cake because the math (my strongpoint) will be harder, but more straightforward in most cases. Also, the writing portion and correction portion of the test can be easily prepped for. My advice to you would be to study like crazy for the new SAT over the holiday break and take it in March. Then from March to May you can study pre-calc or review (i dont know what class you are in now) and take the IIC in May or June. That is what I would do. And BTW..get an 89 for the IIC and you are golden as long as you paid some attention in pre-calc.
GoodLuck
