Old SAT scores?????

Hey everyone,

I took the last testing of the old SAT in January, and I did well. My superscore for two tests is now slightly above a 2200 (but with 1500 + on CR and M).

However, is it worth it to take the new SAT? I got a 1490 on the PSAT and with some preparation, I could do well on it. I have no idea how a 2200 translates to the new SAT scale. Or should I focus on SAT IIs??? Maybe even ACT? Thanks!

At the 700-800 range of the scale, old SAT and new SAT scores will be similar. So you can do a ballpark conversion by taking (Best CR + Best W)/2 + Best Math. Sounds like you’d be at about 1470. You can also use the PSAT concordance to go in the other direction. It can be helpful to think in terms of old SAT scores, since all college data will still be for old SAT. One advantage of taking the new SAT and doing well is that you might not have to worry about superscoring. Your PSAT score definitely shows that you can do well.

An ACT won’t improve your score profile unless you end up with a 35 or 36. Probably not worth the effort given how well you’ve done on the SAT.

Unless you are signed up for the SAT next week, then you should focus on Subject Tests in June. You don’t want to postpone those until the fall. You can make a decision about the new SAT over the summer. Or you are a sophomore and have all the time in the world.

Depends on where you’re applying. Your super score is in the range, but could be higher. Focus on the SAT IIs because those matter a lot too.
