How heavily is WashU recruited for BB/IB? Obviously it is not on par with HPW, but I would presume, with its rising popularity/reputation, it might start sending more Olin grads to Wall street/comparable. Does anyone have any stats/insight/Olin class of 2010 info?

I think they should ABC the XYZ because Wall street/comparable is LMNOP. Not as good as QRST but the stats are still good for EFG. Hope this helps.

^^hahaha. In other words, idontjoke, I think you need to start defining your terms. You can’t just start a thread using acronyms for everything, not everyone know all the terms nor does everyone use the same acronyms (i.e. HPW?). I hope you define your terms in your essays.

BB = bulge bracket [banks]
IB = investment banking
HPW = Harvard Princeton Wharton

BUMP

If you can’t understand the original post, its basically asking how is job placement to Wall Street and investment banking from Olin?

While all that I WANT to do is state how deranged and myopic one must be to want to work in a big investment bank on wall street now (or in 4 years from now, or EVER)… I’ll refrain from doing so, and answer your question.

There are a fair amount of Olin students who get internships and full time jobs at the big firms. Goldman, BofA, Citi, JP Morgan, Wells Fargo, and Deutsch Bank recruit and interview on campus. Wells Fargo’s wealth management division is based in St Louis (after they acquired AG Edwards), which is always a good thing… as is Scottrade and Edward Jones. Somewhat relatedly, one of the 12 federal reserve banks is in St Louis, and this branch of the Fed does most of the economic research for the entire system. They recruit and interview on campus.

While the numbers won’t approach the numbers of “HPW,” if you do well here and are reasonably competent and ambitious, you should be able to snag a job at one of these firms.

Peruse the Olin website, as there is a PDF document reporting career statistics for Olin undergrads. I don’t know if they’ve updated it for class of 2010 yet.
