Omg. am i screwed?

■■■■. i forgot to change the uni names to ‘brown’ for my academic interest essay question
the first half says ‘brown’ but the second half says ‘penn’ (well i mentioned ‘penn’ twice) so it’s like obvious that i’m recycling.
■■■■. AM I SCREWED??

BUT I ACTUALLY LOVE BROWN MORE THAN PENN
AHHHHHHH

you can ask the common app people if you can change an item on your application (in this case, your essay) or you can ask Brown officials if you can change the essay. hope it helps

my friend did that in her yale essay, and the adcom let her send a new copy and didnt look at the old one…she got in lol

Yeah, that’s a major don’t.
I would call the admissions office when they open after New Years and tell them I sent the wrong essay version in.

You better send a new essay, that happened because you don’t revised the app.

Even if you can’t get this changed, I don’t think this would be a big issue. As long as you don’t reuse the “Why Brown” essay from elsewhere, I don’t think that you’d be penalized for “reusing”. It’s understandable that someone would reuse their “what fields do you want to pursue” essay because that’s usually something that is the same no matter where you go. You picked Brown and Penn because they are strong in the areas you want to pursue. As for Brown knowing you are applying to Penn also, they assume that many candidates also apply to other ivies. You might be slightly penalized for not checking over your application thoroughly enough, but if everything else on your app is good they won’t hold it against you. Brown admissions officers frequently say that they focus on your strengths, not your weaknesses. Brown is that type of school.

Haha, really? The Penn and Brown essays were completely different. Anyways, I only reused two essays, once each, and even then, it was only the first pargraph. Hmm, well, good luck!
