OMG, I am screwed for AP literature tomorrow help!

Okay so apparently you can’t talk about free response questions, so I’ll just say I used “The Overcoat” by Nikolai Gogol as the symbol for The Namesake.
'Nuff said (according to CollegeBoard…)

Probably everyone writing about the namesake used that symbol, though. Ugh.

Wow, I had no idea Heart of Darkness was so commonly used! I wrote about it, too.

i thought we are not allowed to talk about specific stuff on the exam?

lol i really want to say what i wrote to get your guys opinions, but I dont want to risk it haha

I chose “The Scarlet Letter” for the open prompt. Open prompt happens to be my weakest section, so I made sure to choose the easiest book that fit the prompt. I murdered style and analysis; I think I did an exceptional job on poetry.

Predictions:

Style/Analysis = at least a 7
Poetry = 5
Open Prompt = 5

Multiple Choice = 40

All I’m hoping for is a 4. English is my least favorite subject, so I’m just glad to get this over with. I’ve got Biology and Physics on Monday!!!

Yeah, I’m scared of discussing this out in the open before Saturday, but I will say that I used “darkness” as a symbol for Africa and man’s “primeval side” in Heart of Darkness.

lol I’m glad that I’m not the only one that is it afraid of talking about the essays directly. :D

Oh wait, I thought you could discuss free-response questions after the exam but not multiple choice?

Well, in 48 hours you can. So if you might want to edit your post.

i think i got above 5 or above for each propt (not sure tho) because i had os much stuff to write for each
mc was kinda fail…idk yet

For the MC i heard you could never tlk about them…ever. But for the essays I think its a 48 hour rule after the test.

did anyone else use The Kite Runner for the open prompt?

Yeah, I edited my post.

BTW is it okay (for poem and prose) to restate the prompt? because honelsty our teacher didn’t go over how to write thesis for poem/prose so i just wrote like “blabblah demonstrates stuff through imagery, etc, w/e”

idk if thats really a thesis…but my support is ok-good ig uess

When I was reading the third question, I was really mad that I didn’t bother to look over The Glass Menagerie, since it would have been a really good work to write about.

Two AP’s left for me. AP psych on Tuesday and AP Spanish lit on Friday, which should definitely be a lot easier after taking this exam!

Collegehelllp: My school has a similar rule that anyone taking an AP test gets out of the final, as long as his/her grade average for the class is above an 80. They just started it recently as an incentive to get people to take AP tests.

ChandlerBing: I love your reason for editing. Its soo true. :P

Zlyice: Good luck on AP Spanish lit! Once again, exempting AP semester exams would be amazing. Maybe I should talk to my principal.

I used A Prayer for Owen Meany for the third prompt. I was so glad that I wrote a research paper on that book this year.

As far as the MC and other essays go, I thought they were pretty easy. There were a few hard MC questions, so I didn’t get to the last 3 (which I saw were easy), but I thought overall the MC section was easy. The two other prompts were very manageable and easy to analyze.

can someone answer my question lol

i thought the mc was pretty straightforward

the poem wasn’t too bad…probably a 6?
second passage killed me lol, we never did anything like this in class…probably a 5?
i liked the third one, wrote 3 pages, i used the kites from the Kite Runner as a symbol…i think i did well on this one

Is The Namesake considered a “unique” book to use for the third prompt? It was on their list, to my surprise.

tehcakeisaLIE

i did the same thing lol

now can anyone answer my question?
