Omg I Got In!!!!!!!

Congratulations! Is that correct, a Chem E majorinthe LAS college. Can you do other 'engineering' degrees in the LAS college? My S was admitted to Computer Science in the Engr school. Is that any better or worse?

Apple17,
My S applied online on 11/15, had collegeboard submit his back SAT's in March, and his GC sent the transcript 11/1. The application status still doesn't show the transcript or SAT as received and no decision yet. Purdue sent their acceptance on 11/18 for an identical situation. We called UIUC and they said that they are still reviewing all documents and enterring them on the system and that it may take 2 more weeks till the system shows a completed application. Very strange in light of your S's immediate acceptance with only a 1 day difference in submitting the app.

PLANTREE:

I have the same issue. I had my U of C transcipt Fedex overnighted to them on Nov 9th, and it did not get logged until the 22nd.

My HS transcript was sent snail mail on the 9th, and they have not logged it in yet.

Ah, geez, I just want to know. I applied for aerospace.

ChemE is the only engineering in LAS. It freaked me out at first, but ChemE is still highly regarded there so I'm ok.

Chem E is in the Chemistry department in LAS mainly as a quirk of history. When it was started in the early 1900's, the engineering department had no chemistry related teachers or labs. (Another quirk: the Physics Department is in the College of Engineering but the Physics major is considered one in the Liberal Arts & Sciences College-- set up in the 1800's that way because all other universities considered physics a program in liberal arts & sciences.) The distinction is one without a difference. It is just as difficult to get admitted to chem E as to programs in the college of engineering and it follows the usual required courses of the college of engineering. Computer Science, which is in the college of engineering is not "any better or worse." All the engineering programs are highly regarded and all are difficult.

WOOOOo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats Mesophyll,
My app was created on 11/16/05, but they did not finalize the application and put dates on all items until today. When did they mark all your items as received and have the stauts read "Complete ready for review"? Will have to wait for UIUC to make a decision and join you. Please give me some feedback as to how much longer for us to wait.
