AHHHHHH I got a letter from the hotel school...I don't know whether to laugh or cry! Well at least it's a preferred although not guaranteed transfer.

"You recently received a letter from Cornell University indicating that you were placed on our waiting list for fall 2005. We will contact you immediately should we have a space to offer.

The admission committee was very impressed with many facets of your application and recognizes your potential. Therefore, in the event that we are unable to offer you fall 2005 admission, we will be offering you a special PREFERRED TRANSFER ACCEPTANCE for spring semester 2006. This opportunity is offered to a very select group of applicants, among the very best we considered this year, but beyond the number of freshmen we can enroll in fall 2005.

This preferred transfer acceptance will be provisional upon completing fall semester as a full-time student at another four-year college or university, successfully completing at least twelve semester credits, and achieving a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 (B) with no grade below C. We would encourage you to focus on completing a broad range of general education courses - humanities, social sciences, mathematics and physical science. We will also expect that you gain some additional hospitality-related work experience this summer, paid or unpaid, full-time or temporary, to better prepare for the Hotel School experience.

More info on this option will be provided once we confirm that fall enrollment is no longer a possibility. In no way should this opportunity preclude you from accepting offers from other universities.

We hope this letter conveys our sincere desire to welcome you here at the Hotel School in the near future. Let us know if you have any questions. In the meantime, we will be in contact with you regarding the waiting list, should a space become available for fall 2005 enrollment."

Well done! We are proud of you and wish your dream come true soon."

runs around the room in circles :) :)

Haha thanks quynh2007!! But there's a catch... I'm going to a UK university which is essentially a 3 year college. Don't know whether this still applies although they didn't explicitly say I was required to attend a US college. Hm... this will be a money-saving option actually.

Haha looks like my "Cranes to Cornell" plan worked. :p

actually, i'm going to an admissions meeting tomorrow here's the info:

10:30 AM - 11:30 pm
Cornells Office of Undergraduate Admissions
Uris Hall Auditorium
Undergraduate Admissions staff will share current recruitment goals and strategies for enrolling an ethnically and racially diverse class of Cornellians each year. This session will include a discussion of long-term trends and influencing factors, as well as an opportunity for questions and answers.

if you want, i can try to ask them... tell me more about your college and other stuff.

Oh quynh you are a gem! Thanks, and yes there are a few things that I'm concerned about. Here's the lowdown: I will be going to UCL to study psychology (accepted with unconditional offer) but as the letter stated that they wanted me to study in a four year college, will this make the transfer option void altogether?

If so, what other options are there? I know there are several colleges in the States where they're still accepting students-- so must I apply to those and earn the necessary grades?

And lastly it seems like they encouraged a liberal arts education that covers a broad range of topics. It doesn't seem like that's what I'll be getting in a UK university. So how?

OMG LEIGH!!!!!!! That is SO AWESOME, I'm SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!! I THINK I MIGHT CRY...YOU SOOOO DESERVE IT GIRL!!!!!!!!! DEFINITELY KEEP US POSTED! :D

AH NICKY NICKY NICKY!!! Girl, it's soo great to see you here again!! runs deliriously around in circles some more
Now you, of all people, should keep us posted. We miss you and want to know how you're doing and how you'll paint the whole of Philly red come fall! :D

And to everyone else, I just can't thank you enough for the amazing rapport. I really, really hope we will meet someday on The Hill... perhaps wearing a CC t-shirt or something LOL (Yes, that's you too Nicky. Hope that hockey meet ain't off!)

It ain't off... I have tickets on reserve ;) ... jk... We are definitely getting together... someday... tear sniff sniff
Sparty, are you on for a hockey game this fall?
Norcalguy?
quynh?

Hey, sorry for the lack of response. I ended up having a major personal crisis (i lost an election to someone I didn't think deserved more than me, and my boyfriend failed an exam and was in a state of panic) and I subsequently could not attend. I asked a friend of mine on the eboard to ask, but she ended up leaving early and didn't stick around for the Q&A. If you want, i can find the right people to ask tomorrow? I'm so sorry again, just a lot has been happening, and i'm just slowly recovering from them.
