<p>ok, so today my dad said he was going to submit my supplements for uva but he accidentally attached a wrong draft of my arts and sciences essay. he already hit submit. is there anything i can do to fix this??? can i send an email to the undergraduate office with an updated version of the essay???</p>

<p>I can’t help but ask: Why your father was tinkering in your Common App account? It’s one thing to help a student make their application fee payment and it’s another to be uploading essays and submitting applications. Students, you need to be the ones controlling the submission of your applications.</p>
<p>I understand that now dean. I think he was trying to make it easier for me but it shot back. So is it ok if I email UVA the corrected supplements? Are their certain things i should include in the email?</p>
<p>For example should the essays be in the body of the email or am i allowed to attach a file to the email. And also shouls i request a conformation in the email, just to make sure that uva got it and attached it to my file.</p>

<p>Dean J may give you different advice (and you should certainly listen to her), but I would pick up the phone and call the admissions office. Try to calm down…I’m sure you aren’t the first person to have done this. </p>
<p>If and when you call the admissions office, remember that they are probably flooded with calls today. Be patient with them. They are your friends and are there to help.</p>

<p>Keep in mind that it will take a while to get processed and you won’t get a reply. There are always hundreds (maybe even over a thousand) emails in the general accounts after the deadline.</p>

<p>My mom used to be really controlling, ie she checked my SAT scores before I did, always had to know all of my passwords, etc. She did not submit any of my applications but she definitely had to know the password to the accounts… Just saying, you don’t know the kind of family situation someone comes from that their parents would have their account information.</p>
<p>I wrote the comment in the hopes that people might be prompted to think about who should be involved in filling out the application and what amount of parental involvement is appropriate.</p>
<p>Dean 1 last question, promse! Should i attach my essay or just copy paste it into the body of the email. And should the subject line be “supplemental information for…” and should i mention anywhere my situation or just directly post the information u told and then my essay. Thanks again</p>

<p>Do whatever is easiest for you, Eagles. I would definitely explain what happened so the person who reads the email realizes that what you’ve sent is different from what was submitted online.</p>
<p>You’d be amazed at how many people send us duplicates of items they’ve submitted online. Somehow, they trust gmail more than they trust a secure website. :)</p>
<p>The deans or counselors who read your app will probably read both essays. The email will be added to your file as a additional document. The supplement will remain intact as you sent it to us. Don’t worry about that.</p>

<p>why would you have your dad even handle your college stuff. I mean my parents are involved but when it came to applying, it was all up to me hahaha</p>
