Omit Math Class Senior Year?

Without going too much into detail, I've never liked math. Nor have I ever been good at it. Here's a quick rundown:

9th grade: Algebra 2 (ended with a B)
10th grade: Pre-Calc (ended with a C)
11th grade: Calc BC (going to end with a C)

With senior year coming up, and course selections due soon, I'm tempted to omit math.

From what I've been reading here about other rising seniors, you shouldn't omit math senior year. And I get that. Except in my case, I've never actually gotten an A in math, so does neglecting it senior year really have a big impact on me in terms of college admissions? Viewing my transcript, it's pretty evident that I'm not gifted in math, and taking a math class senior year isn't going to change that.

I plan on majoring in business. Hopeful colleges are UGA, Georgia Tech, and a ten or so prestigious colleges I'll apply to (ex. Vanderbilt, Northwestern, etc.).

My counselor told me to not leave out math senior year since it looks bad for Georgia Tech since they're apparently picky about that. But, from personal experience, I don't think it'll have too noticeable an impact on me. My sister landed a B in Algebra 2, B in PreCalc, and just didn't bother taking math further than that. She still got into Northwestern regardless.

And other classes (AP or not) are A's, and always have been A's.

Any insight would be appreciated. I really don't want to suffer with math senior year.

Does your school offer statistics? I know that at my school, stats is sometimes taken for an easier, less math-intensive senior year. (I’m taking it concurrently with calc though.)

My school does offer AP Stats. Just that, from my experience so far, my other classes struggle since doing math homework/studying just ends up taking a lot of time and stress for me. It’d be great to take a bunch of non-math APs and be able to study them as much as I please for once.

If you’re thinking about going into business then I strongly suggest that you take a math course senior year. From what I’ve heard, stats is an math and AP course. I agree with your counselor, stick with math. I wouldn’t say that just because your sister didn’t take math senior and got into a prestige college as an excuse for you not to. Take an easier math course or get extra help if you’re struggling in the more advanced math classes.

I think you should take stats then! When majoring in business, you won’t be able to just not take math :(

I fully understand that I won’t be able to avoid math in college. I plan on taking whatever is necessary once I get into college itself, lol.

I just really want to take a bunch of other APs that I have genuine interest in, and not be chugged down by my AP math class, be it AP Stats or not.

But since we’re talking of AP Stats, how is the class anyway? I know it has little to no connection to Calculus, but at this point, I’m ambivalent about taking anything math-related at all, rofl.

If you make it to Calculus BC before your senior year, it’s probably fine not to take math senior year. AP Stats would be a good option, though.

Why are you two years ahead in math if you don’t like it and aren’t good at it?

I’ve never liked math, but it was one of those “I hate it, but I don’t suck at it” classes up to middle school. I maintained an A in all my math classes until Algebra II in 9th grade.

And I suppose “not good” is relative. Certainly, being in Calc BC itself means I’m ahead of most people in the subject. It’s just that once I got ahead, I just failed to keep up.

A mixture of dislike for the subject, wrongly prioritizing all other subjects over math, and just demotivation for math in general (due to disliking it) resulted in this mediocre math transcript.
