Math Dilemma

Hey I'm new to the site and I'd like some input!

I'm a junior in highschool and I'm planning for my senior classes with my counselor soon, and I've got a few questions...

9th grade: Geometry
10th grade: Algebra II
11th grade: Pre-Calc
12th grade: Calc or AP stats

1) Should I consider taking a math course my senior year?

2) If I choose to take a math course my senior year, should I take Calc or AP stats? Would it be better to take Calc my senior year because pre-Calc content is still fresh in my brain, or take AP stats because it looks better on my college transcript?

I'm still trying to figure out what id like to major in, but something along the lines of, Business, Entertainment/ Sports management, or Video Game design/ Computer Programming.

Thanks appreciate it!!!!

It depends on what kind of person you are. I would recommend NOT skipping out on a senior year math class, since colleges will like to see you take 4 years of math. Personally, I prefer Calculus much more. But I’m definitely more a math-oriented person. AP Stats is closer to a social science class than anything. You do more analyzing of data, and you write more about what you’re looking at and use math as more a “tool” to get there. Calculus has a lot more numbers and equations, and is completely numbers and deriving formulas. Again, it totally depends on which type of person you are and whether you prefer analyzing or completely working with numbers.

Stats will look good for business. Any chance you can take both math classes? If not definitely take the Calc while it it is fresh in your mind.

Can you take both? I’m taking College Calc and College Stats (dual enrollment classes through Pitt) this year, and both are really easy at my school!

Thanks for the input! I’d prefer to take one or the other, but I’ll definitely take a math course senior year… I’ve heard from other juniors who are taking calc have either dropped the course or have really low grades due to the teachers.
