Please comment!

You are not shooting too high at all.

I don’t think you are aware of how few african americans (for whatever reason) get those kind of test scores on their math SAT and their ACT. You are literally one in a million.

You are a shoo-in for most of those schools, and have a very good shot at the Ivies.

It is my understanding, for example, that while the usual SAT score needed for the Ivy League is 1500, for an african american, it is closer to a 1400.

Plus, your ECs are very good as well.

I don’t think you realize how much you will be sought over with your credentials.

Best of luck.

My son got a 2300 on his SATs, a 34 on his ACT, and has a similar gpa. Perhaps you guys will wind up at the same school.

The list looks about right.

You certainly have a shot at the top schools (though it’s a crapshoot for anyone) you also seem to have a good range of schools including Targets and Safetys. The list seems to have a common theme of suburban/urban schools. Well done. It looks like a lot of thought went into the list.

Colleges will see your 1st semester grades and they will be a part of the decision process.

An African-American female with your stats is a lock at:

SMU
Maryland
Rice
BC

…you have a great shot at every other school on your list but they will all have a number of applicants with your stats. in your demographic, my guess is that you’d be accepted in roughly half of these schools.

Do you think an intended major of Chemical Engineering/Psychology on the pre-med track would make any difference?

Your intended major probably isn’t going to have much of an effect on the admissions process.

African American with high stat and STEM oriented female!

I think you have GREAT GREAT chances at every college in the country.

I disagree with the poster above who thinks few AAs get scores like hers. She has a good shot at these colleges because she is accomplished. It’s a bit old-fashioned to think top colleges need to dip low to build a diverse freshman class.

OP, GS Gold will be good. Your sports are great, as is 3 years of research. The honor societies count for less (each school sets its own standards.) And Habitat seems to be the only vol work- this is usually only periodic, so my advice is add some more community based efforts, unless GS has offered you much of this. (If it has, find a way to note it on the CA.) See if you can mentor this fall, either at school, at the middle school or in the community. Yes, fall grades count in gpa. Yes, a female ChemE/psych major will attract attention. Good luck.

Word.

I will tell you this from experience, having seen the outcomes of hundreds of students in your situation.

I’d give you a 10. You can basically pick out your room already.
