on campus apartments or dorms?

hi! i'm probably going to end up at UTD next year so i was wondering what the best housing was!

are apartments or dorms nicer?
what's the difference between them?
number of bedrooms, bathrooms, etc.
and cost?

thank you! :)

Are you an incoming freshman? If so, you will be required to live in the dorms.

Otherwise, take the apartments. For what you pay per month in comparison to the dorms you get a lot more: a bigger living space (211 sqft vs 135 sqft), a kitchen, and washer/dryer (this is a godsend). The bedroom is just a bit smaller (100 sqft vs 106 sqft) but unless you’re bringing your house with you that shouldn’t be that bad. All you have to do is bring your own furniture, but I’m assuming that you’re in the area already since you’re considering going here.

yep freshmen are required to live in the res hall next year. whether thats a good or bad thing depends on the person. personally, i love having my own apt and kitchen

I have seen the UTD dorms, and they are super nice! Each “suite” consists of three bedrooms–so you and your two other roommates each have your own bedroom. The dorms also have a common living room. There are a number of study rooms and music rooms outside the dorms as well. The security is great, because only UTD students with their ID cards can enter the dorm hallways. Overall, I really like the dorms and its closeness to the campus.

Yes, res hall is very nice and really allows you to meet tons of people
