On edge

I am seriously so stressed out from all of this college stuff. I got rejected to UCI, but its become more and more important for me to attend there, so I sent in an appeal. I know the chances are so low, but my life as it is right now would just be incredibly difficult to go anywhere else. And if any appeal is granted, I dont see why I might not get one. I just check the website every 30 minutes because im so nervous about it, even though I know it won't matter. Has anyone here every appealed UCI and had it work?

In 2004 the appeal rate was 1/4.

whoa...really?

Yeah but dont get your hopes up.

Trust me, I'm not :(

i know im waiting also.. Scared. but im thinking of sending in my SIR for davis just incase.

i have also heard the longer you wait for an appeal the better the news. also a girl in my school already got her appeal rejection to UCI. goodluck.. "cross your fingers."

Hmm..the waiting is killing me though. Still no news...

infamousmile: That appeal rejection could be a lie.

Anyway, yes the appeal rate is really high for UCI. It's basically because UCI has a lot more space than other UCs sinec it's constantly growing. Also, the style of admissions helps adcoms control the flow enough to know about open spaces for appeals.

I really hope so...Jason, you read my other thread about all this right?

If you send in an appeal you should have a very good reason why you should have been accepted. Usually this means including information that the admissions office did not see but would be considered very important to the admissions process.

Waiting on my appeal also. Keep your head up!

I think I've got that, I just wish I knew already

karrotz do you have a backup

hope it comes soon

That's funny, I got rejected from Davis but accepted to Irvine.
Engineering major, what's yours?

Yeah, I got accepted to UCSB. But honestly, maybe its better I dont know :(

karrotz... I also got accepted into UCSB and rejected from UCI, and I'm also appealing.

In 2004, yes their appeals acceptance rate was roughly 1 in 4... BUT, when I contacted the admissions office about them receiving my appeals, they told me that this year, there is no room and that getting in under appeals this year would be very difficult.

I'm still praying...

Did they give any idea of when they would let us know? Im so freakin nervous!

Hey karrotz, since your appeal actually has substance. You have more of a chance than the other 3/4 of the people. A lot of appeals are actually useless but yours has new compelling information. I have faith, good luck!
