On Self-reporting Standardized Test Scores

hello, happy holidays, and thanks for entering this thread!

So, I took an ACT last year and got a 34. Never took the SAT, so I never put a SAT score on my common app.

My friends pressured me into taking the SAT, so I took the december one and got a 2340. This is of course better than my ACT score, but I can't put it on my now complete common app.

My question is, if I send my SAT score to colleges via college board but don't self-report it on the common app, will it still be considered?

Also, what about the converse? Say I don't want a college to consider my ACT and I have self-reported it but don't send the score, will it just not be considered since it can't be verified? Will I get in some sort of trouble for reporting it and not sending it? I'd really rather all colleges just consider my SAT score, especially since I am applying to mostly engineering schools and my 32 in science is rather low.

Thanks for your time.

The SAT will be considered whether it’s on the app or not. Many kids take another test after completing the apps.

Whether a school will consider a self-reported ACT that’s not followed by an official report depends on the school’s rules and procedures. Some may, some may not. You won’t “get into trouble” for those that will not; they just won’t consider it.
