Just curious how hard it is to find a spot on the street and how much of a pain it is to have a car (with snow etc). Off street parking is very expensive. I'm living on State Street by Mitchell. Thanks!

Off street parking is a pain in the butt to find during the academic year. During the summer...it's not so bad. A car is certainly a welcomed convenience but such a drain on the wallet.

drain on the wallet because of off street parking costs?

parking, gas, maintenance to name a few....

I can think of much better things to spend $1000 on :-)

my friend parked on the street for a while, but to keep his spot he'd only use his car at ridiculous hours of the morning, which defeated the purpose of even having a car. so..you're probably going to have to pay for a spot.

ok, I was only planning on using the car weekends anyhow. leaving it parked rest of the time. I'll probably try street parking until I can't stand it anymore.

you can always pay a fraternity to park in their lot. during my soph year a friend of mine parked his car at fiji for $500 for the year, which is way better than the school price.

^^True. But..someone in my dorm parked in the Sig Pi lot and one night vandals trashed a bunch of cars in the lot....she got it the worst: all of her windows were smashed in and there were numerous dents all over the body.

Does that degree of vandalism happen often??? In the regular North Campus lots?

That was the only time I'd ever heard of cars being vandalized anywhere near campus....and that was 3 years ago.

Thanks! Feeling better now. :)
