On-Track for University of Florida

UF is a absolute dream school and I want to know if I am on track
Sophmore
Class Rank: 70/722 Barely 10%
GPA Unweighted: 3.7(Got 2 C's in Bio and 1 C in Alg2. My only bad grades)
GPA Weighted: 4.3
I'm in 1 AP class this year(AP World History), but next year I am enrolled in 5.(I understand the rigor and can handle my own)
AP Physics, AP Psychology AP US History, AP Statistics, AICE Marine Science(Which counts the same as AP), and I am dual enrolling ENC1101 English Comp. My hpa will go through the roof next year if I keep A's.

EC's: Marching Band 2 years(Leadership:Historian), Book Club(Historian), Psychology Club(President), FBLA(Community Service Director. I also plan on joining key club and gaining an officer position next year!

Please let me know what else I need to do if I'm not yet on track!

the c’s in bio and alg2 are not great scores but actually if you work your ass off and do great junior year it won’t matter that much its impressive that you will be taking SO MANY APS your junior year but don’t let that make your grades suffer because junior year is tough will all the APs and SATS and SAT SUBJECT TESTS colleges also look at your junior year will like that your challenging your self and your leadership as a sophomore is great keep up the good work!! please give me your opinion about my thread too.

I’ll give you the info I know based on my experience. I got accepted this year to UF. I’m not sure if I’ll attend or not.

SAT: 2050
ACT: 30
GPA: at the time, it was 3.65 uw/4.96w
Rank: at the time it was 18/430, top 5%
Other stats: 6 AP classes currently, total of 13 AP classes by end of year (since 10th grade). AP Scholar with distinction

Major: Undecided
Essay: Pretty bad. I wrote them at the last minute, 20 minutes before the application was due, so I thought this was going to hurt me and cost me my admission.

Hook (if any): Hispanic

Location/Person: South FL
State or Country: Florida
School Type: Umm, I guess it counts as public.
Ethnicity: Hispanic
Gender: Female

At my school, the UF decisions were the biggest shocker of the year (so far). Everyone in the top 5% got in, but very few people in the top 10% got in. This was really weird, since in the past many of the students in the top 10% had been accepted in my school. Since I’m instate, my school should have had somewhat of a priority. UF doesn’t look at SAT subject tests, so don’t bother with those, unless you are applying to schools outside of Florida (none of the FL universities with the exception of UM look at SAT subject).

I think you have a nice schedule up there, but I fear it may be too much for you. I think that I was able to handle 5 AP’s last year and 6 AP’s this year due to a lack of leadership positions. I would probably remove at least 1 AP. You don’t want to have too much on your plate- seriously, you don’t. I don’t have any leadership roles, but I have 6 AP’s and 2 dual enrollment and I think I have way too much. Since you have a lot of EC’s if I were you I’d mainly hit the books. Yes, I understand colleges like AP classes and yes, I know I’m sorta saying “Do what I say, not as I do”, but I’m saying this from experience now. If I had a chance to do this again, I would not have taken as many AP’s, maybe 4 and just 1 dual enrollment, and I didn’t even have a leadership position. You have a better shot than other people because of leadership; since UF is holistic, this is a big plus. Overall, you are in a very good position.

Sorry for the information overload.

tl;dr UF is holistic, so you should take less AP classes since you have good EC’s.

Thanks for the feedback!(Fellow Ravenclaws!xD) I think the courseload shouldn’t be too much as they cut the physics curriculum in half, aice marine is considered easy at my school and psych apparently is a joke here, but they don’t have to know that lol! Im going to try and get to the top5 percent but it might be hard seeing as most residents up there are also taking my course load. Oh my ethnicity is african american and my uncle went here. Not sure if uncle counts as legacy or not though.

You’re welcome! (Woo-hoo, I knew I’d meet another Ravenclaw!) I forgot that physics was cut in half. Regardless, you really should consider dropping one course, if you want to get A’s in all of your classes and also have a leadership position and be involved in EC’s. Like me, being a minority is a bit helpful, but overall, I don’t think it’s super significant either. I’m not sure if an uncle counts as a legacy either, but if I were you I’d mention him anyways.

Your completely on track but just try to get all A- and A’s. Your class is huge at 722. Good luck and thanks for the chance
