I’ll give you the info I know based on my experience. I got accepted this year to UF. I’m not sure if I’ll attend or not.

SAT: 2050
ACT: 30
GPA: at the time, it was 3.65 uw/4.96w
Rank: at the time it was 18/430, top 5%
Other stats: 6 AP classes currently, total of 13 AP classes by end of year (since 10th grade). AP Scholar with distinction

Major: Undecided
Essay: Pretty bad. I wrote them at the last minute, 20 minutes before the application was due, so I thought this was going to hurt me and cost me my admission.

Hook (if any): Hispanic

Location/Person: South FL
State or Country: Florida
School Type: Umm, I guess it counts as public.
Ethnicity: Hispanic
Gender: Female

At my school, the UF decisions were the biggest shocker of the year (so far). Everyone in the top 5% got in, but very few people in the top 10% got in. This was really weird, since in the past many of the students in the top 10% had been accepted in my school. Since I’m instate, my school should have had somewhat of a priority. UF doesn’t look at SAT subject tests, so don’t bother with those, unless you are applying to schools outside of Florida (none of the FL universities with the exception of UM look at SAT subject).

I think you have a nice schedule up there, but I fear it may be too much for you. I think that I was able to handle 5 AP’s last year and 6 AP’s this year due to a lack of leadership positions. I would probably remove at least 1 AP. You don’t want to have too much on your plate- seriously, you don’t. I don’t have any leadership roles, but I have 6 AP’s and 2 dual enrollment and I think I have way too much. Since you have a lot of EC’s if I were you I’d mainly hit the books. Yes, I understand colleges like AP classes and yes, I know I’m sorta saying “Do what I say, not as I do”, but I’m saying this from experience now. If I had a chance to do this again, I would not have taken as many AP’s, maybe 4 and just 1 dual enrollment, and I didn’t even have a leadership position. You have a better shot than other people because of leadership; since UF is holistic, this is a big plus. Overall, you are in a very good position.

Sorry for the information overload.

tl;dr UF is holistic, so you should take less AP classes since you have good EC’s.
