I forgot to say that I also have exactly 120 pages to read for another midterm (phil) next Thursday. :( The phil text is dense and I'm a slow reader, so this consumes so much time as well.

That could really be done in a day. Just save it for the weekend. Or if you're like me, the night before lol. But seriously thats not that much.

Btw, what school do you go to? Maybe that can clear things up more.

Wow, I wish I was a great reader like you. If I were a much better reader, then my life would be a hundred times easier, and my total study time will be reduced by more than a half. Sadly English is my second language and my current reading level needs super-upgrading.

You may not know it, because it's a Canadian school, but I go to Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, BC.

Its not so much reading speed, but rather memorization skills.( if yours is weak, then theres not much time to improve tell next week).

But with 120 pages, there shouldn't be an overwhelming about of info. If you have a whole day to cram, then about 3-5hrs( for a slow reader) would suffice for a through introduction to the material. Then another 5-7hrs would suffice to have all the info seared into your short term memory. So thats about half a day. But you have to take breaks, so you have to take that into account.

But you have the weekend and 4 more days tell the exam. And you go to class, in which at least 20% of the material should come directly from lecture. So you're fine. If you're really worried, just study 30min-1hr a day, and spend 15 min reviewing before going to bed. Then study 1-3 hrs the night before the exam and you're set for an high A

Specific numbers vary from person to person, school to school, and type of school to type of school, so specific prescriptions aren't going to do the trick here. The point remains that the OP should really make sure to get enough sleep -- in a best-case scenario, by studying in a high-yield manner.

I feel what the OP is going through....I constantly put a lot of effort and time (3-4 hours+) studying for my ap physics, ap calc test and yet i can't pull an A while a lot of my classmates who put half as much effort as i do get A's. Oh well

Is it because of algebraic mistakes, problems being too tough, exams unlike homework? Figure out what you are doing wrong and fix it.

Studying a lot helps. But not in all cases. I know someone who spent 6hrs A DAY on introductory chem and ended up with a B. At first I was shocked. I spent about 6hrs total and scored much higher than him and all I did was focus on the lecture and some healthy mixture of easy and hard problems. What he did though was to attempt all the problems in the book. Thats ridiculous. He eventually burned out before he even got to the hard problems. Thats just one example of how time can be wasted studying. If you call that studying that is.

But I still advocate over studying( the right way ) just in case. A least after a couple of A's so that you know where you stand.

"orgo 2, orgo 2 lab, biochem 2, inorgo, calc 2, and phil. (Orgo 2 and biochem 2 consume most of my time )"

Wow, that's pretty intense. No wonder you get so little sleep. I would probably sleep 3 hours a night every night if I had that courseload.

Change sth, or undergrad is going to be rough...
