One Bad Semester: Help!!!

don't try to make excuses about the grades...make your essay more of a narrative...>illustrate< your troubles....
"just joining ap" seems too whiny.....as the writing skills issue....if you couldn't handle it, then you should not have been in AP; that's what I would think.
the first two are good. Explain those in depth and then show your improvement.

does writing an essay help???

do colleges even care that much about individual grades???
my counsler says the GPA is main factor

how is the essay treated??

essay is important but GPA is the most important....school rank, level of courses, and recommendations are somewhere up there too...Essays are probably as important as the ECs....
individual grades aren't as big of a deal, but Cs, Ds, Fs don't look good at all...

which is more important for UNC??
weighted GPA or unweighted GPA??
My weighted GPA is far above instate average..

My unweighted GPA is kinda weak (aka average)

My class rank is Top 20%..
75% are in Top 10% but i got to an extremely competitive AP school unlike most schools in my state..
Level of courses = 7 APs in school, will have 11-12 APs by time of graduation.. plus several more independent study..

Will probably have National AP Scholar..

What do I do about Recommendations?? How many can I have?? Whos best to get it from?? UNC Profesor, Junior Year AP teacher, Counsler, Principal, etc..

You forgot SAT I.. It is a big part of the application.. And I will have it 1400 plus close to 800 Writing

I have a bunch of SAT IIs that are over 700s and will probably get more soon...

And all 5s on AP Exams..

WILL ALL THAT OVERSHADOW A FEW BAD GRADES??
many people say "yes" but writing essay would really help...

but the ruined unweighted GPA might total me

Oh Dude! You Are Screwd!

Honestly, no. esp. "just joined AP and wasn't ready" that looks awful

yea.. it might be a good idea to omit that..
but i can say that i didnt do good at first since my ADD and language issues were preventing me, but then i recovered and recieved good grades ever since..

*can i mention the improvement of my study skills as well???

wat other elements should i mention??

How do bad individual grades affect you as long as the GPA remains decent?

A good explanation is a valid explanation.
