I have a C in AP Physics with all A’s in my other subjects. I have a 3.84 Cumulative Unweighted GPA, but my weighted GPA is a 4.06/4.28 (it was a 4.02). Is there a chance that for Wake Forest and Tulane will hinder because of my C in just one class? I applied ED for Wake Forest and need input.
Yes, there is a chance that The C can be a factor. Are you intending to major in poetry or history or something of that nature, or are you going for a STEM? Also, if you have some reasonable explanation for the C, I would provide it. Don’t be too discouraged, though. You have very good credentials and you are going to go to college somewhere that will enable you to be whatever you want to be when you grow up – and that can still include Wake Forest or Tulane, despite the C.
Nobody here works for the admission offices of either school. It is not a positive but I don’t think any admissions decision will be based solely on one semester’s grade in AP Physics. Work hard to keep the grade in the C range though as D’s and F’s can become real problems.
@NJDad68 I am going to major in Chemistry with the Pre-Med Track. I felt the reason was because I did not get the material even with the amount of effort, but I am doing better right now. I have a lot of good credentials and as the years gone by, I took harder class year by year so being an Amateur in the AP is okay because I am taking other AP classes and I am excelling at it even though I never took an AP class besides honors.
Hang in there. One thing I will strongly advise: the only person who can make a C in AP Physics deter you from your goal of becoming a doctor is you! Doctors come from all sorts of undergraduate institutions, many of which the rarified denizens of CC would not even deign to look into. Many people on this site have no idea that they are splitting hairs among a small group of schools, and freaking out if they are defined their top choices. My advice is work hard, stay true to yourself, don’t forget to love life, and everything will be fine, whether it’s Tulane, Wake Forest, or some other wonderful launching pad for your career. Best of luck!
