I was just curious..
How much effect does 1 C (in honors math class) have on a person's college admissions?
Assume that it's from a student that gets mostly A's.. and occasional B's (in the most rigorous courses possible at his school)

Seriously: it depends on the school and the rest of your application. There’s no rule.

Private schools like USC, Emory, Rice, Wellesley, and UCs

bump…and what difference if it is in freshman year?

Hi! I got a C in Honors chemistry sophomore year and in Pre calc honors junior year and I got into biomedical engineering at UC Davis with about half As and half Bs other than that. Especially if it’s your first honors math class it shouldn’t be a huge deal. One single grade will not make or break your college career, it’s the entire picture and as long as you don’t get Cs on a regular basis, it won’t be a huge deal in admissions. Good luck! And freshman would matter even less since it’s a transition year

ok in freshmen year i got a C in both semesters in honors Alg 2. and am getting a C in honors pre calc this sem. but am switching to normal pre calc and will get an A second semester. am i dead for college! my gpa is 4.0 with the C this semester of sophomore year.
