I live right near Gettysburg and even considered going to the college for a while. I'm no longer interested, but they keep contacting me like crazy! My point is that I'm a lot less prestigious than you are, and I think you'll most likely be in at Gettysburg, despite your GPA. Good school, especially for history (duh)!

Uhmmm, if I'm going to be honest, I spent the entire campus tour complaining to my dad (he really, really wanted me at Gettysburg) about how much I didn't like it. In actuality, it is a nice school with a nice campus, but it just wasn't a good fit for me. It's small and in a quiet area, which I'm not really into. Its foreign language options also disappointed me. But really, I think it'd be a good school for a history major, and Gettysburg would be a great place to live. If you don't mind a small school and tourists, that is.

thanks! Thats very helpful, yeah a school like that isn't for everyone. I want a very small, hopefully rural school whereas my best friend is only applying to University of Maryland, PSU, and UF (all huge) so its whatever fits :)

Yeah, it sounds like you'd definitely like it then. Are you interested in any certain time period? If you like the Civil War, then you would LOVE Gettysburg.

I am actually! I wrote in my supplement how i'd want to minor in their Civil war era studies program that I found lol.
Do you know if not visiting/ interviewing will hurt ones chances there...i live so far away and don't have the money to fly up right now :/
thanks for all your help btw, i really appreciate it :)

It's no problem! Gettysburg is bombarding the wrong person with information, if you ask me. I think that an interview is definitely an important part of their application process, and I'd highly recommend that you get one in somehow. You're from FL, right? They go there, I think. Check their schedule for off campus interviewing.

Yeah I actually emailed that rep weeks ago and got an email saying "I will be out of the office for 3 weeks..." or something so....that wasn't fun...

Boo, stupid Gettysburg >:-l Uhm, I mean, I'd definitely get in touch with them about your situation then, and maybe you can set up an over-the-phone interview or something? Gettysburg really plays on who's (successfully) shown interest in them.

My son's stats were a bit higher than yours and he got in at SUNY New Paltz and Tulane. His friend got waitlisted at Bing with higher stats than he had, so that is a reach. The double legacy and being instate will help you at UF. I am not really familiar with the other schools requirements. You have a very diverse selection...what sort of atmosphere are you looking for?
