Alright, so I'm narrowing it down significantly and wanted to see if anyone had some insight before I start working on these apps for transfer schools... Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Current School: University of Arizona (sophomore, junior standing at end of semester bcs of AP credit)
Major: Undecided between Finance and Economics...

I'm looking at applying to:
Denver University (Business)
University of Pittsburgh (Business)
University of Texas (Business and also College of Liberal Arts for ECON- here the major is in the business school, so I'd have to likely change)
University of Washington (Business)

I know UT is a reach, but it is certainly a dream school! Any thoughts on prospects for these?
Thanks again for your help... I'm a bit lost with this, but excited nonetheless for the chance to at least apply! :)

Definitely in at Pitt without a doubt. I got in to the business school with only 1200 SATs and 3.5 HS GPA.. Pitt's a good school and the city is amazing!! My brother goes to CMU down the road from Pitt and he loves the city

Good to know! I'm really excited about the idea of Pitt- visiting there in two weeks to check out the school and tour... How are the career options from there?

Thanks for the insight- it's nice to have someone with an inside perspective share your thoughts! :)

My friend goes there, she is incredibly smart but a tad lazy. She loves the school, and the city. She goes to art galleries and sports games. She had similar stats; I'm almost positive you'll get in.

Good to know- sounds like there's a lot to do in Pittsburgh. How is UPitt's reputation? Would it be better to go to a UT-Austin or Denver University?

One of the things my brother loves about the city, aside from the free bus service which is PHENOMENAL, is that for 20 dollars you can get tickets to Penguins games because it's a student discount. Basically, they give you the best unsold seats in the house (you have to get them at the arena) so he's sat first row at games when they normally cost $120. The city is also very safe, especially up by Pitt and CMU which is the richer side of town. The Waterfront, which can be reached by bus, has all the big name shops like Target, Best Buy, and many more plus great food. During the football season everyone wears Steelers jerseys on game day, which shows how close and passionate the city is. Plus at Pitt if Carnegie Mellon offers a course that Pitt does not you can take that course at CMU but for the cost of a class at Pitt. UPitt's a well known school and is very old so it's full of tradition. The city is perfect for college students with transportation, safety and a wealth of things to do. Had it not been 6 hours away from my home in NJ (my brother can handle being away but I'm 3 hours away and transferring to 20 minutes away) I certainly would have gone there. Can you tell I've been to Pittsburgh a lot and like the city? haha, sorry if I got a little too excited

Bump- any other thoughts on chances or ways to improve odds with a 3.4ish GPA for UT, Denver, U-Washington (Seattle)? Any help is appreciated! :)

Another inquiry- one of my main reasons for transferring personally is that I have been a competitive figure skater and coach for years, and our rink closed here this summer. Should I mention this or does it sound completely superficial? Thanks!

Washington- good shot i'd say. I think your GPA is higher than the average xfer, but i dont know if they give preference to in state, or not for xfer
Texas- I'd also say you have a good shot for CAS. Probably rejected for b-school as it is far more competitive. Arts + sciences is one of the easier schools to get into ive heard. just keep in mind UT doesn't use + or -'s so they will recalculate your gpa accordingly.

Good to know- thanks for the info! They state that i-views don't matter, but that you can go for a campus tour and chat with an admissions counselor- thinking about going again just to do that, it can't hurt.

Also, any idea how much UT factors in work experience, resume, recs, etc? Those are a strong point for me, hoping they might help my cause...

Thanks again for any info- this forum has really helped me get the ball rolling! :)
