One last time, chance me at these schools! I promise to chance back :)

Please chance me at the schools I listed, and if you can please suggest safeties, the kinds of schools I'd still enjoy, but would attend in a sort of worst-case-scenario setting of not being accepted anywhere I really wanted. Thanks!

Also, if you want to be chanced back then please post a link to your thread :)

Schools:

If there is any information anyone would like to know to help make decisions and the such, please feel free to ask! I am working on a second draft of my essays now -- one is about MCing rallies, the other is about the death of my good friend's mother and my hospital visit before she passed away.

bumping to the top

Ur stats are good, but your ec’s are really crazy. Berkley and LA are probably low reach/high match. SB D I are all matches/low matches. SD really high match. SLO low match. SC is about match, I’m not to sure about SC’s stats but I hear its easy to get in if you have a legacy and good recs

Chance me back
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/939859-uc-chances.html</a></p>

Thanks! The big 4 for me are UCLA, UC Berkeley, UCSD, and USC.

I will take a look right now, thanks for your time :)

Great chance at all these, really unique E.C.s! Make those essays great, your topics are excellent. Also being in-state for CA raises your chances even more. Best of luck!

Thank you very much! Not sure the experience you might have with essays, but if you would like and if it would not be trouble, I would love to hear your input on them, they are essentially done, in their 5th draft right now.

I’d be glad to take a look, I’ve been told I’m a very good writer/editor by lots of my teachers (mom’s an english teacher, guess it’s genetic :P)

Haha Dad was an English major and I’ve been very lucky to have very good (though hard as all hell) English teachers and Journalism advisor, so hopefully you find them to be good!

I’ll send them in a PM. Please be critical, too. I’m probably not going to be changing the whole topic of theme of either essay, but any tweaks and additions/fixes that might make it better, please say so. Thank you for the time once again :)

Your academics are mixed, leaning more towards negative. Your SAT IIs and GPA isn’t great, but your okay SAT score and rank helps. And, unless your school doesn’t offer many APs and honors, your schedule is kinda shabby. But your ECs are excellent so, if your essays are great as you say they are, you are redeemed to some extent.

Not extremely familiar with the UC system but…
UCLA- high match/low reach
USC- not sure, guessing match?
UC Berkeley- reach
UCSD- safety (not 100% sure)
Cal Poly SLO- no clue
UC Davis- definite in
UC Irvine- also definitely in

Thank you! I know, I kind of wished I did a bit better in school. One or two more A’s would have done it. Oh well.
My school actually does not offer many AP and honors, and as you could see by my rank (and that’s the high school GPA which doesn’t count my English 3H grades as weighted like UCs do) I am not at a terribly competitive school because of that. I took almost all that I actually could, except admittedly I could have taken AP US History last year but that’s almost it considering I had to take Photo 1 (no AP available) and 3 years of Journalism to be on the newspaper staff & become an editor. I honestly have no clue how my essays are. I think they’re better than decent because I know a girl who wrote a rather mundane, uninspiring essay and she got into UCLA. I wouldn’t call them great or excellent without more input from others first, though.

I understand the unfamiliarity, I don’t know east coast schools very well. I’ll chance you back in a sec, thanks again!

bumps for chances and chance backs :)

I will chance you if you chance me first. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1024234-chance-me-if-you-dont-like-when-people-title-threads-all-capitals.html</a></p>

This may seem ridiculous, but I have done a bunch of these “I will chance back!” threads, and guess what…they don’t chance back. It’s quite irritating. You’re going to have to trust me that I’ll chance back .

Aw well you coulda just checked the other people who posted links to their threads here and see that I did chance back to everyone so far! Ill do so though, hang on.

Thanks for responding promptly.

You have only taken 5 AP’s? Is that considered a rigorous courseload? Like if your school only offers 5 or 6 AP’s then you should be fine. If they offer more though than that’s going to be an issue. I would work on that gpa.

Your subject tests are both at or below the national average, so I’m not really sure if you want colleges to see that.

However, your EC’s seem fantastic. You co-owned an indie-label and have albums on itunes? That’s crazy. If you incorporate this well into your application things could go very well for you.

Mainly on the strength of your EC’s, I’d say you probably have at least a 45% at all of these schools. UCLA and Berkeley might be tough, but I think you’ll get into to at least one of those two.

You have good chances my friend!

-UCLA - High Match

 • USC - Low Reach
 • UC Berkeley - Low Reach
 • UCSD - Match
 • Cal Poly SLO - Low Match
 • UC Davis - Low Match
 • UC Irvine - Safety

Good Luck!

Please chance back at!

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1025684-chance-cute-asian-amazing-schools-one-last-time-promise-chance-back.html</a></p>

=)

shockazulu, I currently only have 1 on iTunes, but in total I’ve had 2. I’m working on a third right now  I can’t work on my GPA as a senior really, it’s sort of late for that. Wish I had done it earlier, I agree with you! But yeah, my school does not offer very many AP’s at all. Not counting AP Spanish (AP French is no more, AP Physics C is no more) there are literally only like 4 AP classes available to me all 4 years that I didn’t take: AP English (i was going to take it but it’s complicated what happened…), AP Physics, and AP Computer Science. AP Environmental Science got added this year, and AP Language something-or-other got added last year for Juniors only, and I was already a Junior in English IIIH with no open schedule slots left by the time I got to being able to take the class! So aside from the 2 new ones, there’s AP Calc BC too, but I’m taking AB right now which is similar but a bit slower in terms of the pace.

I think that’s literally it. I’ve taken all the math possible and all science except AP Physics. Didn’t take AP Computer Science or AP Spanish, and that’s about it. My school doesn’t offer much and as you could see above by the dropping of AP French and AP Physics C, we aren’t really ADDING classes that I could’ve taken. All the new APs being added basically have been added right as my schedule is already done for the upcoming year.

But thank you very much! I’d be quite happy to get into UCLA and/or Berkeley :)

spt., thank you! I’ll chance back in a moment, I am speaking with my grandma right now but I will get to you I promise.

wow, amazing EC’s, but gpa and sat scores are a bit low for UCLA/UC Berkeley

 • UCLA - reach
 • USC - high match
 • UC Berkeley - reach
 • UCSD - match
 • Cal Poly SLO - safety
 • UC Davis - low match
 • UC Irvine - low match

thanks for chancing me! =)

Thanks bud! I’m happy about the SATs, all I wanted was over 2000 :stuck_out_tongue: I do agree, I wish my GPA were just .1 higher!

UCLA - reach

USC - reach

UC Berkeley - reach

UCSD - match

Cal Poly SLO - in

UC Davis - match

UC Irvine - match

Thank you! :)
