one suspension, otherwise decent stats. do i have a chance at all?

Ok well junior year I was pretty stupid/amoral. I got caught taking the answer sheet for a test that was next class off a desk for a class (really stupid i know but it happened at a instance without thinking). Anyways the teacher found out and i gave it back by the end of the class. I was suspended for two days.

I am putting this on my common application and will have to write an essay explaining the issue.

Ok well i know im getting into all colleges that don't require counselor recommendations (they aren't that great) as a fallback, but do you think that I have any chance at Emory, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, Boston University, UChicago, WashU (yeah right lol) with my black mark, basically any common app school.

I mean it's going to be hard to reason stealing test answers in an essay so i think im fairly screwed and must resign myself to my state school (isn't too bad). what do you think? And no need to disparage me over my actions I, myself, and my parents have done that enough. This has been my only offense but definitely a huge mistake and a very egregious black mark for college admissions.

Yes, it's a black mark. I think your best bet is to own up, not attempt to make excuses, and talk sincerely about what you learned from the experience.

yeah if you somehow explain it really well in the essay, you should be fine.
