I just realized there’s a slight mistake in the second line of the essays I sent. I don’t know how I made such a stupid mistake (I guess I missed it during checking as it was in the starting and may be I just focused on the central text) but I think it occurred during formatting… The mistake is that I wrote ‘they’ instead of ‘it’. I know it might not be a really bad mistake, but since it is in the second line may be it ruins the whole impression of the essay?
What do you guys think? Will it make any considerable effect on anything? Do note that the school I sent it to is one of the top ones (you know which ones).
;P.s Honestly if I am reading something and there is an error in the first couple of sentences, I usually stop reading because it just irritates me. I hope nothing bad happens!!
Don’t sweat it. It will have no bearing on whether you get in or not. In the chance that you don’t get in, it won’t be because you made one tiny mistake in an essay.
Don’t worry about it. What is done is done. My DD, in her college essay, realized that she had a similar error after sending it off to her four prospective schools. And she had umpteen checkers, none of us catching it!
She ended up being deferred, then wait listed at one of the most difficult programs in the country and accepted into another very, very selective program. So, relax.
How old are you? 13, 14? Sometimes I think that tiny errors here and there in an otherwise passionate, well-written essay make you real. Too much perfection and there is often a question of authorship. My advice is to immediately stop worrying about it and enjoy the weekend.
These things happen. Mistakes like this one are what make us human. Chill out. Perhaps they won’t even notice the mistake. At the end of the day,the mistake will certainly not determine whether or not you will get into the schools. Good Luck!
