Online app clarification

Hi, I am applying to Tulane through the online application. I was sent credentials over the summer. I am well aware that this is a marketing ploy to get students to apply and probably won't affect my chances of getting in, but I am unsure of the differences between this online app and the "regular" app that Tulane offers.

For one, they are not charging me a fee and not requiring a personal statement, and especially the latter makes me nervous because personal statement is obviously a very important thing - I'm still going to submit a statement, of course!

Basically, I was just wondering in general how "legit" this app is. What makes it so that I received this different app? Will I receive my decision sooner? Also, I didn't do the Early Action deadline, so do I still get my fee waived and stuff?

Thanks!

Tulane hasn’t charged anyone an application fee in years, so forget about that. As far as the rest goes, if you apply RD then the only thing anyone can say for sure is that you will get a decision by April 1. The whole thing is pretty much marketing, as you say. I don’t mean that negatively, I don’t think there is anything wrong with that. Tons of schools do it. But at this point your app probably won’t get treated any differently than anyone else’s. Be sure to do the Why Tulane essay as well as the personal statement.

This was very helpful! Thank you :)
