Hi all, I am only a freshman in high school, but I started going to this meeting once in a while to get me thinking a little bit about college. Ever since my friend has been going crazy being stressed about her dream college and it made me wonder if I will ever get into mine. So for some peace of mind could anybody give their opinion if based on my school career sop far if i will get admitted into Tulane University? Thanks!
I take Honors English, Honors Biology, CP World History, and Geometry (plus electives and gym)
Every semester so far I have got straight A’s in every class, and a B every semester in Honors Biology
I play cross country and lacrosse
Part of two service clubs in school and play music at a nursing home out of school
Sorry this must be an annoying post but please respond if I am on the right track right now to get in and what I could do better. Thanks!
I know someone who got into Tulane with similar grades(maybe a bit higher) and similar ECs.They also has killer SAT scores. You’re only in ninth grade but you’re off to a good start. Try to keep all your grades in the mid to high 90s, and maybe do some more EC activities. Basically, anything you do, do it to the best of your ability. Playing an instrument is great, but that is not enough. Audition for orchestras that are not in your school. Join any music ECs your school has. You might want to think about a global outreach as well. The service clubs are wonderful but colleges love seeing activities that don’t just affect your community. It shows you are worldly and are aware of the world outside of high school! Best of luck to you.
@stem1202 Thank you so much for the help! Someone told me that as a Sophomore next year I should start doing more community service clubs in addition to joining an academic club. I was planning on joining DECA for business, but what more can I do if I am doing my best in all my classes, playing a sport and doing an academic club and community service?.. Thanks!
DECA is a great organization to be a part of. Doing all that you just mentioned is perfectly fine. You don’t need to do much more. Just keep those grades up and start prepping for those standardized tests ASAP! The only thing I would say is getting more involved in music I guess (if you’re interested).
Thank you so much for your help!!
