Only sophomore right but need assurance????

My UW GPA is 3.5.
Weighted is 4.0.
I had a few C’s. I used to be depressed and very demotivated. Until now. I have changed and plan on making all As.
I am in a few clubs TSA, TUMS(our medical club), Interact, Key club.
I am going to take the ACT this year.
What would be my chances at WashU, University of Washington, UMich, University of Southern California, University of Texas?
I know this isn’t much to go off of but I am really stressed out.

The Cs wont hurt too much if you show great growth in terms of the GPA.

Study for the ACT/SAT, keep doing extracurricular activities, and find a “passion” that makes you unique.

A chance is not possible right now, but you have 2 years to improve your resume!

A passion that makes me unique? Like what?

@ilovecoffee12 That’s for you to decide. You don’t need one per se, but you should try to do stuff outside of school that interests you.

You grades at this point do not preclude you from getting into any of those schools you listed. Most schools hardly consider freshman year. Just do the best you can do in school, and I am confident that you will find success

Wow thank you so much, I feel better now.

I know it’s easier said than done, but you gotta calm down and stop stressing. It was only freshman year - sure, it would’ve been better to get straight A’s from the beginning but it’s not too late to start. Showing an upward trend in GPA is good, and you still have a while to study for the PSAT/SAT and build up your EC’s (clubs are good but I’d try something outside of school like Scouts or some other organization/program).

Good job/congrats on making a change. I’ve been depressed throughout high school and I know from experience that it makes it so hard to do things even if you are intelligent.

Thanks for the reply. That made me feel so much better. Would an outside thing like this volunteer program at a hospital be like what you’re talking about? This hospital does this program for HS students during the summer. My town kinda sucks and doesn’t have a lot of things going on.

Don’t ask us for advice about what YOU are passionate in. Colleges don’t want kids who just join clubs and community service for the sole purpose of getting in, they want kids who follow what they want to and are talented/interesting.

Remember, depth not breadth. Try new things, find something you enjoy, and develop that.

My 2 cents

That sounds like a great opportunity if you think you’d be interested in it. If your town doesn’t have much and you can travel a bit, maybe look at surrounding towns. In my city the library has lots of flyers for events for teens. If you don’t know what kind of things you’d like to do, maybe try some random stuff and see if you like it.
