I am wondering, how many of you guys who are on the waitlist are out of state? I am out of state, and I have noticed that a lot of the people who were waitlisted were OOS (maybe they are unsure how many people will fork out $50K tuition in these tough times). It looks as if half or more of those who are on the waitlist in these forums are OOS (and the school itself is only 1/3 OOS).

Anyways, those of you who are panicked that you have no chance on the waitlist...remember, everything is rumor. Who really knows if they over-enrolled early on in the admissions process as some have stated (I heard that same rumor last year, and they ended up taking many off the waitlist). I know it may seem like so many people got waitlisted (I know on here it seems as if everyone was waitlisted) and you dont have a chance, but I think it is just an illusion because they released basically every waitlist on April 15th so there is just a lot of talk about it right now (I didn't see one person waitlisted before the 15th or since, so I think they released us all on the same day).

Keep a positive attitude. A waitlist, although not the coveted acceptance, still has hope in it unlike a flat-out rejection.

Just keep your fingers crossed that Michigan irritated enough people with their late notifications that they will need to pull off the waitlist.

I’m kind of expecting to get off the waitlist in August, if I do get off at all. My dad is a dentist who graduated from U-M, and one of the other dentists in his office got accepted off the U-M waitlist for UG in August.

I just wanted to respond to the comments above. I’m actually in-state, though.

I am OOS and was waitlisted in Mid-March. I was taken off the waitlist a couple of days ago.

I think it just has to do with your major and school and stuff. I am a music student and I had a really good audition and mediocre grades and test scores, so I got off the waitlist early.

Good luck to all you other waitlisters! I hope it will happen for you too!

im OOS, applied last day and got accepted; however, i think my stats were just average, or a lil better. another girl at my school got in with lower stats as well.i think she applied in december ~

Applied Dec 15, but school did not get its materials in until late January. 34 ACT, 3.9 GPA. Waitlisted April 16. Kids from my school who applied earlier got in with lower scores.
