- Varsity council - helping out in all athletc events, timing, ball-girl, picking up people in the airport, housing kids from other school, etc
- done some community stuff but I won't list it in my resume, its not awfully a lot anyway

this is the only UC I'm applying to. what do you think? I'm really worried about being an OOS...

Well, out-of-state works against you, of course--but with a 3.8 GPA in an IB diploma courseload and a 29 GPA, I would expect you to have no problem getting in.

The only question is whether you are going to have any difficult because of your choice of major (marine studies), which is the most difficult major to get into (along with Biology). I would expect it not to make a difference in your case--and being able to study marine biology on the Monterey Bay is unparalleled. The deep sea floor in the bay here is second in depth only to the Marianas trench, and the difference is that the water here is probably twice as clear--and has a greater amount of diversity in the sealife.

If you get in--which I expect you will--you will love taking that major at UC Santa Cruz.

thanks for the reply. yeah thats the main reason why I applied to UCSC. I want to have access to Monterey Bay. I visited this summer and I loved it. definitely a place I can see myself living there
my parents want me to apply to more UCs, but none have as strong program and better location than UCSC. and it has such a lovely campus!
I can't wait for the decisions.
go banana slugs :)
