<p>Rank is determinative only for in-state top 8%. All applicants outside of that pool are evaluated holistically, where rank is just one of many factors.</p>

<p>With that said, OOS candidates have to really jump off the page to get accepted at UT simply because our state law gives Texas students a preference. While you obviously worked hard and earned some good stats, your short summary doesn’t tip me to anything that makes you more remarkable than the tons of in-state candidates who have the same/similar profile. Maybe that passionate EC or your essay makes your application shine! You never know what’s going to work to distinguish you from the pack in holistic review…</p>
