Is there any and how hard is it to get?

If there are any, they are detailed on UCLA website. Not that hard to find out of you have access to a computer with Internet access. Alternative you call their financial aid office to find out.

My son is a junior at UCLA, when I went to Parent Orientation 3 years ago, some of the out of state parents asked the “financial aid guy” about out of state scholarships. I don’t know if it is still true, but he said the most “free money” they will give you will be up to the in-state tuition cost, and it was the same when California students went to out of state publics. The whole reason that more out-of-state students are being admitted to UC schools is to increase revenue because California is broke, so I doubt there is a lot of free money for out-of-state students. You might want to ask on the UCLA site or as lerkin said, call the financial aid office.

For OOS students, aid might only be given “up to” the instate rate. That means that you’d have to pay at least $20k per year OOS portion plus your EFC.

Do you know what your EFC is?

No I don’t know what my EFC is…

If you go to the UCLA website, they very clearly show the 3 types of merit scholarships they give and the qualifications for each. UCLA is a top school, I’m sure that they’re all extremely competitive.
