I know UF is fairly stingy on this, but does anyone know if you get notice of any award with your online acceptance, or is that something that comes in the mail (if it comes at all). When my son got into FSU, the online notice told us of his tuition waiver so I was just wondering if UF handles it the same way.
I think last year folks started to hear back by late February to early March?
I see on the UF website it says that the recipients of the OOS Tuition Scholarships are selected by a committee each spring and will be notified via e-mail and regular mail by the end of March. So perhaps you might have a wait ahead of you.
If I may ask Newtownunit, how much of a tuition waiver did your son get to FSU - was it 50% or 100%? May I also ask what his GPA and test scores were? It’s very convenient that FSU gave him his tuition waiver notification along with his acceptance. Congrats to your son! It will be interesting to see how UF compares to FSU in regards to the waiver.
I’m in the same boat of questions, @floridabound16, I’ve been trying to find any kind of baseline about these scholarships due to the hefty amount given by FSU, USF and others.
My son’s SATs were 2150 with an FSU GPA of about 4.0. He got the 100% waiver, which was a true thrill for him. Waiting until March to find out about UF is not really a big deal, but I know my son is simply anxious to conclude the process. UF is not known to be generous with OOS merit aid, and I think our expectations are realistic.
@Newtownunit, any news for you on the OOS tuition waiver from UF? I saw on another thread that emails were starting to go out so I thought I’d bump this up and see if you had heard. Also hoping others might chime in with their Out of State tuition waiver scholarship results.
We didn’t get anything. I called up and the e-mails went out. The good new is that he got a full OOS tuition waiver from FSU which was his preference anyway. So he’s very happy as it is.
