OOS ....UCSD vs. UCSB

I know the UCSD is obviously the better school, but how big do you think the gap is for points on the UC pt system between these two schools....maybe 250 or so : /...i hope. I already got accepted to UCSB out of state. Do people who get into UCSB usually get accepted to UCSD?

Not really.. go to www.collegeboard.com and search up the two colleges. You'll see that UCSD demands a higher GPA and higher SAT I scores.

I believe UCSD is a 1st tier UC (right after Berekeley and UCLA) and UCSB is a 2nd tier UC (right before Irvine and Davis).

It's more difficult to get into UCSD than UCSB.

Also, I don't think UCSB does it on a point-based system... I think UCSD is the only school that grades on points.

UCSD is more competitive than UCSB.... for example, all the ELC eligibles of California public schools (the top 4% kids) automaticially get into all the UC's except Berekeley, LA, and SD.

ALL of the UCs use comprehensive review, which includes assigning "points" for various factors. Each UC, however, uses a slightly different way of assigning the points. It is impossible to predict anyone's chances, in state or out, for any UC without knowing GPA/test scores/additional information. Good luck!

So i have a 4.15 10-11 grad a-g gpa, 1770 on sat and im pretty much guaranteed ELC because of my class rank. does that mean despite my low test score i have a good chance at getting into UCSB?

You're guaranteed admission into UCSB, but not entirely so for UCSD. UCSD admits I think 90% of ELC students? Your SAT score is weak, however the average for UCSD doesn't break 2000 either, so, while I wouldn't say UCSD is a match, your application is pretty competitive.
