Since UCSD and UCD use the point system

does this mean that if you got rejected from san diego you are going to be rejected from davis?? I got waitlisted for san diego so do you guys think i have a chance for davis? and also what is the cutoff point for both of these schools?

bump guys please

No. They are two different schools with two different point systems (points are distributed differently). Also, Davis will likely have a lower cut off in comparison to UCSD because it is slightly less selective.

thank you. any other thoughts?

You have a chance for Davis. It’s less selective.

Davis is probably easier to get into than UCSD. I don’t think its because UCSD is more selective, as KingsElite says. I think UCD admits more because they have more of a potential to, its much bigger. And… not getting into san diego doesnt mean youre getting into davis either, I know tons of people who got into SD but not Davis.

^It has maybe 2,000 more students. Is that much bigger?

I was thinking more about the schools actual size and facilities… but um… I’d like to think 2000 students is a pretty big amount. It seems like Davis would be easier cause they get less applicants, and can admit more.

any estimate on how many points you need. i just did my score and my very very conservative total is 8100 but if i were to be really estimating i would have about 8300. how good are my chances?

You should be fine, but the admissions this year have been somewhat different.

in what ways are they different?

do i really have a great chance as many people are telling me? i am so nervous for next year because of my mediocore gpa.

my stats are the following and after doing both schools total point i am getting 8000+

Essays: (i kind of integrated the 4 topics below into my two essays)

 1. when i was a freshman my parents got in an accident and i had to start taking care of my whole family. what i mean is that my chores got tripled, i needed to help my parents move through the house, and i had to walk my bro to school before i went. My school and his school are in 2 opposte directions.
 2. i also wrote about how the envioronment i grew up in has shaped me to be a strong perservering leader and how people see me as a leader not because of my large frame ( i am 6’4) but because of the attidude i have when i am in the room.
 3. how my parents accident coupled with my volunteering at the hospital has changed my outlook on life and how i found my true calling which is medicine because God has blessed me with intelligence and lots of empathy towards the needy and weak.
 4. i also included in my essay a great quote from one of a famous surgeon (i am drawing a blank on his name right now) but it said " i was never the smartest in med school, but what i lacked in ability i made up with through discipline." i think this quote really applies to me and i explained why.
