TexasMom

You might want to PM Nrdsb4 who is also from Texas. Her D came off the wait list last year and is now about to finish her freshman year at UNC.

What city do you live in?

TexasMom, I don’t know what the chances are regarding the waitlist. However, my impression from last year was that they did pull a good number off the waitlist. We had received a letter informing us of her status. It made it very clear that they did not want to hear from us again unless we had something new to offer. My daughter goes to a very high performing school, and she received an award in April that is about the highest honor one can achieve at our school. Our school GC sent notice to UNC of this award, its importance at our school, and our daughter’s intention to attend UNC if accepted. Shortly thereafter, she received a phone call informing her of her acceptance. I don’t know what, if any, effect our late correspondence had on her acceptance, but I believe it sure didn’t hurt. So if any awards or prestigious honor comes your child’s way, it would be a good idea to let UNC know.

Good luck. My daughter is very happy at UNC.
