hiiiii
I’m a rising senior in high school. I came here last summer to live in the USA from Curacao. So I only had the chance to do so much in a year for college. I’m very involved in the community. I have job I work with kids. I did soccer in the fall. I took a fashion design class at RISD “runway to succes” which I completed successfully with an A- I also took “Ceram” a pottery class at RISD. I just finished a pre-college program at Brown University I took BIoInformatics for 2 intensive weeks. And I’m doing a pre-college program at Roger Williams University. I have a 3.4 GPA but my SAT’s are not good.

FIT is my Dream College . I really want to get in. But I am afraid that my SATs is going to be a problem. Because I want to do their “international Trade and Marketing for Fashion industries” so I assume that SATs is required.
-I wanted to know if this Mayor is a very competitive one? And how hard is to get in ? And any tips for the Essay?
What should I do to stand out more?

Hey I’m a junior in hs right now in Florida and I was wondering if you knew how much the out of state tuition is? And I understand that the industry has its long working hours and you need to be dedicated in what you do to get the results that you want, but what would you recommend for someone who would like to have a family of their own? I deffinetly want to be on the industry and at first as an FMM, but from previous post I see that it isn’t the best if you would like a personal life or want a family, so what would you recommend? What area in the fashion industry do you think is best for that?

Also!!! I would like to ask if FIT accepts college credits from out of state? I’m currently looking into doing dual enrollment and would like to know if my credits would transfer. It would just be for some general classes, ya know english, math, history, science, thanks!!!

I want to apply for AMC for Spring 2013. I spoke with admissions and they said a huge emphasis is placed on the essay and now I’m freaking out! I’m a pretty good writer, but when it comes to essays, I’m actually pretty terrible lol.

My grades in my English classes are actually not that great either. In high school, they were Bs for 3/4 years, and a C junior year due to my being a major slacker.

In college, it was a B in Comp 1 and a C in Comp 2 (NOT MY FAULT!!! It was one of those professors that tell you straight up "You’re not going to get an A in this class. 98% of the class got Cs and Ds with the exception of a few who ended up with Bs)

I’m worried my grades will prevent me from getting in :/

Also, I want to do AMC but I don’t particularly want to focus on fashion. Would this major prepare me for this field in areas OTHER than fashion as well? I don’t mind learning about fashion throughout the time I’m there (it would be pretty awesome, actually) but career-wise, I don’t care to focus on fashion, really.

Any other information for this major would be awesome! Thanks guys!

My high school GPA is rather lousy, but I’ve worked my way up in college and now it’s at 3.91. My question is, how much emphasis will FIT put on my HS grades compared to my more recent college grades?

I would hope they take more into account the latter, and see my progress as a positive thing rather than laughing at how bad I did in HS.

Hi!
So, I´m not sure if this is the right place to ask my question but I´ll do it anyway.
Is it true that as an international student (I´m from Argentina) I´m not allowed to work during my first year? How do they expect me to be able to buy the materials? Or food? Or to be able to go out once in a while?
There is no way I´ll be able to bring enough money from home for that, dollars are a touchy subject righ now in my country, and besides, even if I could get the money out of the country without any problem I still wouldn´t be able to MAKE that much.

Quick question! I sumbitted all my FIT required docements on time for the SPRING 2013 semester. They said we should hear back around December 1st. I havent heard anything yet and when i called they said that i will be receiving my letter by the end of this week or early next week. I’m confused because the person i spoke to said that they have already made a decision, so why havent they just mailed it out yet? I’m not the only person in this position, ive seen some others as well. Is this a bad sign??? are we expecting REJECTION letters thats why are letters are coming so late? or are we on some kind of waiting list or something??

I’m freaking out and I’m soo nervous! Can anyone please explain whats going on?
Thanks!

hi, I was wondering if the marketing/advertising is less competitive from your experience , did u get in ?

Hi! Will it help my daughter’s chance of acceptance if I received my MPS from FIT? BTW, I am in business development at an amazing retail design and display company. It’s a great career - good luck!

Hi, does FIT have connection to Fashion Houses and production? and how many percent of the student get a job in their field after graduate from FIT? I’m applying for Fashion Design program Spring 2014

I am very Interested in the Visual Presentation and Exhibition Design Major. Moving from Florida to NYC for Fall 2014 semester. Haven’t applied yet, what kind of tips can you give me.
