Opinion on Most Complete University

Cornell (no bias)

UNC Chapel Hill. Beautiful and safe campus, college town, sports (have to admit Iā€™m a basketball fan), decent weather, great academics. Was on campus a couple of months ago, and what really struck me was that the students seemed happy to be there.

William and Mary and Chicago definitely get DQed because of lack of athletic spirit. Remember, weā€™re talking most complete university.

Come on guys, we gave to be reasonable here.

Before you suggest a school, try to think if there is a school that is better than it in one or more aspects and at least equal everywhere else. If you can, think a of a school, then donā€™t post your original suggestion

UVA!!!
good at most sports ā€“ check
great education in most departments ā€“ check
good weather ā€“ we have 2 months of winter and tshirts elsetime
a lot to do on campus ā€“ so much that you canā€™t do everything you want ever
good recruiters in the area ā€“ they recruit with H&P
low crime ā€“ itā€™s a college town and thereā€™s a good honor code on the campus/grounds itself
nice location - middle of virginia. driving distance to dc, richmond, williamsburg & beach, etc. hiking, skiing, rivers, etc close by. suburbanized enough.

Stanford, UT Austin, Michigan, UVa

These four top the charts in academics, perform consistently in athletics, and are all located in great cities.

/thread

Stanford seemed pretty perfect

I can only dream haha

Ditto to both of these. UNC was by far the first school to come to my mind.

UT Austin is also a strong contender, as is UCLA to a lesser extent. Stanford would be except the best one can say about Palo Alto is that itā€™s reasonably close to San Francisco. Location also rules out Duke and, in my opinion, USC.

Reading through this thread, a lot of the schools Iā€™m looking at have been mentioned (NU, BC, UT, UNC, Gtown, Cornell) and itā€™s making me happy and look forward to getting in somewhere! haah

Itā€™s clearly Stanford.

Weā€™re not just good at basketballā€¦

Does unc have an engineering program?

Harvard. Itā€™s the best in every single thing.

Just wondering why BC has only been mentioned once or twice. Iā€™m looking into going there- is there anything wrong with it (by the thread posterā€™s standards) besides harsh winters?

The post isnā€™t really bashing any schools. Its just pointing out a few great ones. Im sure bc is a great school.

This thread is great.

I think the one thing we agree on is that there are many schools that fit your criteria. There are several more that havenā€™t been mentioned. Each of these schools is has characteristics that make unique and make it the perfect place for many people.

Good luck with your choice.

University of Phoenix

HEHEHE

Weather is very important. Because it factors in safety and hot chicks. Hot chicks are hotter if they wear little to no clothing. For me, itā€™s Stanford or Cal. Both great schools, top in many undergraduate, graduate, professional, and PhD programs. Close proximity to Frisco, (less than 20 minutes by car for both). Which has a wide array of sport teams, clubs, bars, shopping centers, great restaurants, sight seeing, etc. You can ski (Lake Tahoe), hike or camp (Yosemite or Muir woods), fish (Frisco Bay), or swim in many beaches on the coast. Both D1 sports, competitive Pac-12. As far as safety, Stanford takes it because Palo Alto and close proximity to Silicon Valley makes the area ridiculous rich. As far as culture, itā€™s Cal, because a student body of 20k students will bring more diversity (also more chicks!). Either way, you canā€™t lose with either, you actually win. Stanford is one of my top two dream schools, Harvard being the other. Iā€™m a student at Cal, top 10 dream school for me

For you cold weather folks, watch this video. Iā€™m from Boston, so I know how harsh winter is: [YouTube - ā€ŖMulti-Car Crash Snow Slide on Iceā€¬ā€](- YouTube)
