Hey, I am transfering next fall to UCLA, and I was wondering if anyone had advice on my schedule. I am new to both UCLA and the quarter system and don't know what to expect.

My possible schedule looks like this:

Math 32A - Calculus of Several Variables - 4 Units
Econ 41 - Statistics for Economists - 4 Units
Econ 11 - Microeconomics - 4 Units
PIC 10A - Intro to Programming - 5 Units

I found a website online where a student said the min units per semester is 13 units and the max is 19 units and average is 15 units. Is 17 units unrealistic considering the classes?

Any input would be appreciated.

the schedule is reasonable, but because it is your first quarter, i would recommend taking 3 classes. taking econ 41 and 11 at the same time is not that bad, so i suggest dropping either math 32a or pic 10a. from what i’ve heard, pic 10a requires several coding projects that take up a lot of time.

PIC10A isn’t a tough class but it does take up a lot of time. I’d suggest taking Econ41, Econ11, and Math32A your first quarter. Are you a Math/Econ major? If so, any reason why you’re taking Econ41?

I am actually a straight econ major hoping to get into math econ. I am taking econ 41 because it isn’t for sure that I can get into math econ. I talked to the math department and they said nothing could be garunteed, but they would review my application once more prerequisites were completed. Hence, I need to take all the math classes and PIC 10A.
