So my school has a class called AP Economics, which basically combines AP Macroeconomics with AP Microeconomics to make a one year class. However, you get to take both ap exams in May.
Would you consider this one ap class or two?
Because technically it’s only one class/ one block in my schedule,
But technically it’s two because you can take 2 ap exams and they are of different categories.
I would consider it one. My school does a similar thing where it’s just called “AP Macro/Micro” where it’s one class in one period, but both exams. I was advised by my counselor that whenever anyone asks, to just label it as one AP class, not two separate ones. But ask your counselor if you want to be super sure.
It might depend on your school. In our school it would be one class since a full year 1 period a day class is considered one credit and if it was a half year it would be considered a 1/2 credit class.
For what purpose? Where do you have to document the number of “AP classes”? Is that the exact wording?
@RichInPitt On the common app, you have to list the number of courses you are taking atm. I’m guessing OP is asking whether or not he would have to list it as two separate classes rather than one. And from the description OP has given, the answer is no. Some scholarships also ask how many AP/honors courses you’ve taken.
If they ask about “AP classes”, I would list it as 2. However, if the question is simply, the number of courses then I would count it as 1.
