I'm very seriously considering majoring in Statistics, in addition to my current major which is Economics. It seems like they are highly compatible majors, with applications of Statistics in econometrics and business/economic forecasting. I have taken Stats classes in the past and have really enjoyed them, and I did fine in Calculus so I'm not too worried about the math.

I'm just wondering if Statistics is a good major to have, in terms of job prospects. There are very few Stats majors at my university and I haven't been able to talk to an advisor in Stats yet. If anyone here has majored in Statistics, what did you do after college? Do you consider a Stats major worthwhile?

Also - would it be worth it to get at least a Masters in Statistics? My school has a program where I could end up with a non-thesis Masters within six months or a year of completing my BS. PhD?

As for my career goals: I want to either work in the federal government, such as the Department of Labor (seems like there are a ton of Stats/Econ jobs there) or in the private sector, perhaps in Silicon Valley. My goal is to graduate with above a 3.5.
