Thanks in advance.

A really good local prep school. I would put it a little below Roxbury Latin academically. If we lived a little closer my son would have applied there.

I've heard a little bit about it from my grandmother and uncle, and they both say it's an excellent school.

Where does it rank vs. other ISL schools ?

For what it is worth, here is some comparitve data from Boston Mag.

BH is a really good school with a very tough academic enviornment. Top notch sports programs.

I just visited Belmont Hill yesterday, and I LOVED it (I’m in 8th grade). I come from a small, private school that is heavily focused on academics and nothing more. It is K-8 so I have to apply to different schools, being Nobles, BH, Milton, Xaverian Brothers, and St Sebs. Our school is 20 years old now and only one graduate has attended BH (multiple have attended Milton, RL, St Sebs, Nobles, Andover you get the picture). I can tell that it’s not for everyone though. The school is “sports-minded” as they call it and you have to be involved in them throughout the year. The academics are definetly above average there, just from peering into the classrooms and hearing the students talk and how engaged the students are. The atmosphere is very bright and welcoming, a good sign. The campus is amazing, and I am very impressed with what they have.

Although I know very little about Belmont Hill, I do know the gentleman who has been its Head of School since 1993, Dr. Richard Melvoin. Rick and I were classmates in college and ran track together (freshman and sophomore years). I remember him as extremely determined, dedicated, bright and kind. I’m sure that he has retained and built upon these attributes. Because a school often reflects the style and character of its Head of School, Belmont Hill must be an exceptional school if it mirrors Rick in any material way.
