Still planning, but here’s my potential 2018/2019 class schedule:
- AP Lang
- AP Euro
- Honors Physics
- AP Calc AB
- AP Stats
- AP Comp A
- Dual Enrollment:
→ Intro to Business (Fall)
→ Developmental Psych (Fall)
In addition to this, I need to prepare and retain information for the APUSH, AP Chem, and AP Psych exam. This is explained in another thread but I took these classes this year and will be taking the exams in 2019. Hoping to attend a top college - ideally UCLA. Not reaching for any Ivys but that’d be nice. I’d like to stay in Southern California or go out of state so not Berkley. Business or Economics or Math major.
Ok, so I actually (kinda) like math, AP Euro teacher is amazing, hate English but love the AP teacher, and apparently the Comp A class is fun. Honors Physics to give myself a break but I’m taking the SAT subject test at the end of the year.
THATS ABOUT IT. All opinions/suggestions are very welcome (-:
I agree with both @jl4382 and @OhWhatsHerName. Everything on your schedule is fine, but another year of foreign language is a very good idea. If you have to get rid of one of the courses on your schedule, I would either replace the foreign language with AP Stats or AP Comp Sci A and save the one you took out for senior year.
@jl4382@OhWhatsHerName@anthonytheboy Sorry forgot to add that I’ve taken 3 years of Spanish. Should I take an AP for it? I hated learning Spanish, but I’ll do it if it will be beneficial lol.
@mjt182 While three years is the “requirement” for most colleges, most colleges, especially Ivy Leagues and schools in the top 100 highly recommend four years of foreign language, which basically makes it a “hidden” requirement. If you can make a good grade in Spanish 4, I’d highly advise you take it. In terms of AP, you only should if you feel prepared, and based on what your school requires/recommends. In my school, you have to take Spanish 4 before you take AP Spanish, but if your school recommends it after level 3, I think you should follow it.
Yes, definitely take AP Spanish. It’ll make you extra competitive. I don’t have the numbers for it, but the UCs definitely favor going as high as possible in foreign language!
Drop AP Stats, it’s one AP too many. If your school doesn’t offer Spanish 4, I suppose you study AP Spanish as an AP Spanish 4 combo. Do you think you can maintain a B or higher in that? Yes you don’t have to take the exam, the class matters more than the exam. It’d be a very demanding schedule though. Perhaps save AP Comp A for senior year?
