Would colleges be considerate with applicants regarding mental health? I began seeing a therapist and was diagnosed with anxiety and depression. A lot of negativity consumed my life and as you can see, my grades dipped a bit. I don’t expect sympathy, just an understanding when considering me as an applicant. Does that matter to them at all?

  1. Are you in-state or OOS?
  2. What is your anticipated Michigan GPA (any A=4, any B=3, etc) ?
  3. What school are you applying to? Ross and Engineering have higher requirements than the others, SMTD requires auditions, Art+Arch requires a portfolio - does that apply to you?

Unfortunately, I am not sure that colleges are considerate with applicants regarding mental health. I have actually heard that it may be detrimental to mention it since it may lead colleges to believe that you are unable to handle their vigorous curriculum (even though you really can handle it).
